Understanding Legacy

1052 Words
Once solid on her feet, she could feel the braise dragon on her. Uncertainty coursing through as Draco heats on her. She watches as the scarred face identical brother dismount first then the other dismounts only he seems more appalled by this action. Quickly each brother takes a hand of hers. She forces a smile to each as she could hear Slaughtourn grunt in disapproval. Her father would hear from her. How dare he make this decision for her! Force her into this arrangement. The deep down, inner core knowledge is she would have to choose one for the dragons. She knew she would have to choose one for the human race. Nothing survives the Necromancer, at least per the proficiency if it wins. As the twins announce Brísingamen’s brother and sister to their king. The king appears pleased to see Vykirenia is there. She forces a fake smile through her distress. The King releases them all with a wave of his hand and a small smile. Vykirenia fights not to spit her argument to the promise made by Kings. Probably over mead and drunken power exchange. Her brother and her are ushered into a hallway then separated. Vykirenia watches a few moments as her brother and the prospect meanders down a long hallway. Vaen took her hand, interrupting her stare and aimless thoughts. He leads her to a large bedroom just off the stairs. It's decorated in golden knotwork and deep green velvet. Rich greens and golds decorate everywhere, even the family cresent tapestry reflect the golden knotwork. “This will be your quarters during your stay here. If you need anything please ask. I am here to make you happy. Caegh is showing your brother to his quarters. Please enjoy your stay here.” Vykirenia slightly bows her head, conjuring up all the proper teachings she received as a young child. She felt sick to her stomach as she looks into the indulgences of Vaen’s eyes. His beauty has well beyond spoiled on him. Her dragon starts burning her hand almost as if she was in the coals of a fire. Heat licking through her as she could feel Draco’s distaste for this human as well. The exquisite pain seers into her as she fights to not expose any. “Vaen, what do you know of the arrangement between our kingdoms?” “Well, we are promised to you until your heart has chosen one of us.” “What is to happen to the other?” “Another Princess will come to wed the other.” “What if I can not choose?” “Then we go to war with your kingdom.” Swallowing hard at that moment with a silent chuckle inside. She suddenly has a thought of Vaen being picked off by her father, King Balthazar. Maybe his barbaic ways has some points for her. Afterward she thinks of her brother toying with his inners. 'Insolence meets barbaic.' Quickly shaking her head to remove the vision, she gives him a smile. “Very well. Please leave me to rest. I’ve had a long day.” she slowly begins pushing him out the door. His golden blonde/brown hair shimmering under the candle glow and his porcelain skin is perfect. Yet his hands showed no signs of diligence, unlike Caegh. As she remembers how their hands felt in hers earlier. Again heat flashes through her. With a flashy grin she closes the door with him on the otherside. In the sanctity of her current solitude she fell to her knees in silent agony. Quickly uncovering her hand she sees her dragon is red like a poker pulled from a fire. Draco eyes shining and she thought she could see a grin on his branded face. “Do not tell me he is the one? Did you see that teethy grin? UGGGH!” whispering softly to her hand. If someone hears her they might not take kindly to it and would ruin any chances of saving the Dragons. She could feel his calmness consuming her then a slight knock on the door. “Now you calm down.” She murmurs. Leisurely approaching the door as she initiates the covering her hand again. Swiftly swinging it open, she finds her brother standing there. “Alright time to get you out of here.” He pipes as he pushes her into the room, surveying the set up of her establishment.. “I can’t leave!” she retorts softly and remorse. Slautourn halts and glares “WHY?” Vykirenia is staring back and notes his temper is raging. But hers can match him if he isn't careful. “If I don’t do this, this marriage thing... they’ll wage war against Brísingamen. As well, the dragons need me to choose one.” Vykirenia walks to the open vastness in the walls, inhaling the salty air “Something wicked is coming and its going to destroy... Everything.” “I’ll give you something wicked. Father has thieves already in his kingdom, war will be good for them.” Slautourn blurts out at her. Vykirenia prepares to remove her glove, slowly turning to face him. She needs to show him the legend is true. As she is peeling off her leather gloves and covering on her shoulders, he gasps. “It is true. A living legend in my sister!” he intensely bellows. “Yes! Yes! A living legend! Now hush before someone hears you. I will choose one of the twins and save Brisingamen from war. BUT, you will do well to not interfer with this.” Vykirenia pallidly states. “I’ve got to try and save what we know.” “Does Sirena know?” Slautourn asks eagerly. “Maybe, not sure. She was kind of odd when I saw her. She keeps hidden.” Vykirenia states as she redresses herself. “Father will perish, you a legend carrier! And one day you will be Queen of Eladrierion. Brísingamen will be in stories, history and legends! I am brother to future of a legendary Queen of Eladrierion!” Slautourn beams as the realization settles on his fibble brain. He is always brawns not always brain, that was her. And he finally understood the legacy she is leaving, one day in the far future.
