The Letter

1370 Words

My eyes open to darkness. I search the room for some sort of light. There is nothing to be seen. Complete darkness. The heat was resting idly in my chest.                An eruption of pain, starting in my toes, grows up my legs quickly. The space around me is now very well lit in a yellow glow. I search my body for the source of this misery. My feet were securely bound together and lit ablaze by the brightest flames I’d ever seen. I try to reach for my feet, but my hands are bound as well.                Ripping pain shot up into my chest as the fire spreads. The warmth that occupied my heart crawled up my throat as if it was also enraged with this agony. My ear-piercing scream echoes loud. I can feel blisters form in my throat as my orange flames erupt from my mouth.
