The shriek is high-pitched and deafening. My hands protectively cover my ears. Erik is glaring furiously at Ferron as he calms his stallion again. Ferron’s face is twisted into a remorseful frown. He is frantically searching our surroundings. “What do you mean?!” Erik is screaming at Ferron as his head snaps in every direction. “What is that!?”     Another ear-piercing wail rips through the air around us. It is far louder than it was before. The world seems to flip as I fly off the back of Twilight. My first reaction is to try and reach for something, anything, to stop my fall. My fingers grasp at nothing though as my head smacks into the ground. I let out a grunt as pain radiates through the back of my skull. “LII!” I hear Erik scream, but I am too busy cupping my bleeding head.
