I cannot say just how long we stayed in this embrace. My eyes begin to feel heavy with sleep. I let my eyelids close, and I lean my head against Erik as I begin to drift off. I feel both of my friends shifting around.
“It looks like she fell asleep.” I hear Ferron whisper with a smile in his tone.
“Aye.” Erik also has a soft, but happy tone to his voice. His warm cheek pressed to my forehead.
“We should let her rest. Do you think you could carry her steady enough?” Ferron doesn’t sound doubtful of him, but Erik still takes slight offense.
