READ CAREFULLY
TIANA
I had found refuge. The address Amelia had given me was to an Italian bar. I had lost the men in black suits a while ago and I was now looking for a plane ticket.
I was not going back to Howard University. He would just follow me there.
I only had one option and that was to go back to the one place I wanted to get away from. My home in California, San Francisco.
Beautiful place to be but when you get that feeling that it's time to move on to something different you do it. That's me. I lived in California for eighteen years and when I got accepted into Howard, I left with hesitation.
I love the Lord. He is my savior and I had to get away from my parents pressuring into become a pastor and First Lady at the church. Never letting me experience things outside the home.
I sipped on the glass of water I ordered and placed it back on the bar. The Italian bartender walked back over to me with a smile.
"Anything else, bella?" He asked.
I was lucky when I found out he could talk english. He was my ticket out of here.
"Yes, can you tell me where the airport is?"
"The closet one is Orio al Serio International Airport."
"C-Could I see your phone?" I asked and he looked questionable about it. "Just to look it up. I won't take it." I told him.
He handed the phone to me and suddenly the sound of glass hit our ears. We turned our attention to two drunk men fighting while some watched in excitement.
I didn't even notice when the bartender left and went over to break it up until he was in my sight.
I slid out the chair and walked past the crowd with his phone in my hand. I kept my head down as I continued out the bar.
I finally made it out and just to my luck I saw some type of cab or Uber driver. I ran over to the driver and asked him if he could take me to the airport.
"I'm on break, Miss. I can not." He replied in irritation.
I thought quickly. I pulled out the bundle of money and showed him. His eyes lit up and a smile formed on his face.
"Hop in. Sorry for the messy seats, I just—"
"Stop!" I turned and looked and seen it was the bartender.
"Wasn't going to take your phone." I lied then tossed it to him when I did not need it anymore and got in the cab.
50 minutes later
I was finally here and I gave the man some money before making my way inside. I placed the money in the small bag and walked in the airport.
I bought a ticket that would take me back to the states at the last minute. Italy to San Francisco. Turns out I would have to be on a plane for twenty hours with two stops.
Whatever it took to get me away from here.
My flight was called and I walked to board the plane with no hesitation.
Hour earlier
CARTER
"She was last seen here." Brian showed me the screen. I stared at the screen and there she was, hidden within the crowd. Then a picture of her at two different places. One was at another restaurant and the other was at a bar.
I sighed and leaned back in my chair, rubbing a hand over my face. This girl made more problems for me. She is bound to tell any authority and it would only dig a deeper hole for her.
I was not worried about the fvcking police. As many times they came to my home, it only lead to them finding nothing. I was a smart man with bad hands.
I glanced over at Brian. "We on lock down. No one leaves, no one enters until I say."
He gave a nod. "Boss man." He turned with other bodyguards behind him.
I exhaled and grabbed my new bottle of whisky. Not bothering to get a glass, I drank from the bottle. Just then I heard two soft knocks and the door opened.
From my peripheral vision I knew it was Candy.
Obsessed woman can't leave me be.
"What do you want, Candy." I sighed, never looking her way.
She cleared her throat and took a seat in one of my chairs. "I-I want to talk."
"About?" I questioned.
"The new girl. I-I know where she is." She said catching my attention.
I took another swig of the whisky before giving her my full attention. "Really? Where is she?" I placed the bottle down.
"She is...." she trailed off.
I smirked at her. "Do you really know, Candy?"
She was quiet for a moment. "N-No, but—"
I reached under my desk for my gun and slammed it on the table. I guess she just wanted to see me. I don't like being taken for a fool.
"What was your purpose? Are you deliberately trying to die?" I questioned, my face more serious.
She gulped and tapped her fingers together. "No, sir. I-I.."
"Stop stuttering and speak. I have little patience and your wasting my time to go handle a situation. So, I ask again. What was your purpose?"
"I-I saw Amelia take money from your safe." She said.
I stared at her and she played with her fingers. I didn't know wether to believe her or not but I can only look at the cameras. I grabbed my gun, never taking my eyes off her.
"If I find out your lying, I will make your death longing. You will be begging for mercy. Get out of my office."
She did without hesitation and I stood to my feet. I walked out of my office and locked the door. I walked down the halls and in to my room, punching in a code until my door made a click sound. I opened then slammed the door shut and went straight to my closet.
I walked in and navigated my way to the end of it. Passing everything and turning to face the end of the closet.
Everything looked closed but everything is not as it seems. I opened one of the doors and pushed the clothes aside, revealing my safe. I pushed in the code and it opened with a sound. I pulled it completely open and what I saw left me seeing red.
I was missing money. How do I know? Cause I always pay attention to my money.
I slammed it back shut and reset it. Changing the code to something nobody will guess. I covered it back with the clothes and closed it back.
I was pissed off at the fact that someone got in my room. I was going to put somebody in a body bag. I want to know how much they know and how they got my codes. I never wrote s**t down.
I walked out my room and locked it until I changed the locks. To my luck I saw Brian walking in my direction.
"Everybody is on lock down." He said.
I gave a sharp nod. "Find Candy and take her to the basement."
Brian frowned and I knew he was about to question me but he shut his mouth.
"Wondering why? Somebody is losing a life tonight. Get her and put her with Amelia," I paused.
"Pull up the tapes from every room in the last week and I want every fvcking body in this estate lined up when I get back." I growled in anger.
Without waiting for a reply, I went to go get my car.
