Kyle was grateful Dave chose to drive his pickup to the bar for two reasons. He seemed to be a more careful driver in the truck than he’d been when riding the motorcycle, and Kyle could slump down in the passenger seat so no one could see him. The couple of blocks to Dave’s bar didn’t take long at all, and soon they were parked near the entrance. Dave got out right away, but Kyle lingered, trying to peer out the window to see around the mostly deserted parking lot.
