"You shouldn't say that!" Jason told me after Gwyneth and the Kinsley guy left.
I snorted. "What? That no one would want her?" I shook my head. "Come on, you've seen that girl when she was at Canopus. You barely noticed her. Strip her of the status and she's nothing. I just stated facts." I took a sip at the remainder of my coffee. "Since when did you get so into her anyway?" Jason was silent for a moment. "All I'm saying is, man, why drive her away when you could win her back?"
"And why would I want that? She did enough damage at Canopus already/" I told Jason a matter-of-factly.
We went back to the hospital shortly after that. Marla was waiting for us; she was still vaguely perplexed, but doctors assured us that other than a few bruises, she had no serious injuries. O
