"Alexandra's POV"
Vivian also held my hand tightly as we walked through the corridor to my room.
"I'm scared, Vivian. I'm all alone here."
Vivian immediately knelt down at my level and caressed my cheeks. I then let down all the emotions I'd been holding back since earlier to be visible only to Vivian,
"But I'm nowhere for you, Miss."
Let's tell her what we really feel and our insecurities. There's nothing to be scared of. I stared at Vivian's warm black eyes before
mustering the courage to speak.
"But I'm worried, Vivian. We just met today, and what if you don't end up not liking me in the end after all? I do-"
I was taken aback when Vivian suddenly pulled me by hugging me ever so tightly. I could feel my neck wet but I was still
dazed by what just suddenly happened. Vivian started combing my hair while also hugging me at the same time using her
other hand.
"So, in short, you're saying don't leave me and to stay with you. Am I right, miss?"
Embarrassed, I also hugged Vivian before nodding my head. Vivian laughed and cried at the same time before pushing me lightly.
and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"You know, miss. I'm an orphan but the Duchess was kind enough to take me in when they encountered me begging for
food along the street. I don't know my parents, or if I was abandoned or not. But you see, miss. I feel so sad every time the maids talk about their family, and a home they can go back to during their day off. Ever since you chose me as your maid, I have seen you
for the first time, smiling back at me. I knew at that exact same moment that fate had led us to each other. Even without knowing you fully, I felt like I could already see through you, and think of you as a very wonderful person. Don't worry anymore as you'll be in great hands starting today. So, I'll be in your care, too, my lady."I
It was the first time I'd laughed in this new world while Vivian was all busy throwing me up and down.
in the air.
Yes, I shouldn't worry too much. This is just the start. I'm just starting. I'll make sure
to enjoy my stay here.
Who knows? Maybe I'll even receive a lot of good things, right?
You can do it, Alexandra!
I said that not knowing, what people used to call me, my entire life would change the next day.
"Are you sure you wanted to be called Alisha, instead?" Duke Jerald asked.
Other people probably have misunderstood him already because of that scary aura of him and that
cold-looking face he has right now. But not me. I think that's just really the way he talks normally. Seriously.
I nodded multiple times as an answer to Duke Jerarld's question. I understand the situation properly. If the enemies of
The Duke gets a whiff that something suspicious is going on, it'll really cause trouble. But I don't think using the name of another
person, even just to pretend won't make the situation any better. So I then thought of an idea. Arabella and I are connected somehow.
I'm staying in Arabella's body and living here in the Duchy while she's being treated by the goddess. After Arabella's treatment is
done, I'll be next. I will gain a new body. Just as a normal person is privileged to.
Others will only dislike or mostly know as hate, even though I didn't do anything wrong. Using the name Arabella is
only part of the strategy after all. But I don't think the Duchess and her sons will be happy with that.
So then, I came up with an idea.
"I know that this is a strategic plan. However, I doubt that the Duke feels fully comfortable with this at all.
If I use Arabella's name even just to pretend, I don't think the Duchess will be happy with this, and your sons will probably either. So let's just hit three birds with one stone. I'll use a part of the name of Arabella that they don't really call her. In that way, we'll be able to get away from your enemies' noses and conflicts, and also get a new name for me. I'll just say that I want to be called Alisha more than Arabella because it's cooler. Besides, Arabella's life and mine are practically connected. It's just that simple."
Butler Sebastian, suddenly clapped his hands while the Duke stared at me for a while.
"You're amazing, young lady. I applaud your way of thinking."
The Duke gave the butler a death stare. "Don't try to appease her, Sebastian. She's still a child."
The Butler smiled when the Duke said that before uttering, "Coming from someone who did the opposite to his sons."
Instantly, Duke Jerarld's head flew towards Butler Sebastian. But Sebastian is already in his usual business expression and state. He started stating the Duke's schedule and pointed out the papers that needed to be addressed immediately.
Shrugging off, I tiptoed my way out there because I figured the atmosphere wasn't that very good.
"Vivian, let's go start the tour."
Vivian raised her thumbs up while I followed her while we went around the Duchy. I said hello to the maids and butlers we encountered along the way while we went through every room there is in the Duchy. I don't think I can memorize everything she just said all at once. But I do know that the Duke's and Duchess's rooms are on the third floor while their children are on the same floor as me.
I then suddenly remembered how the maids acted when I just chose Vivian as my personal assistant.
"Vivian, I suddenly remember the day I chose you as my maid. You know, I was just kind of wondering why the maids sighed in
relief." I asked while walking with Vivian.
I wonder why Vivian suddenly stopped. I turned to look at her. "I think it's because they can't stand how bright our lovely miss is."
My eyebrows furrowed because my instincts told me that there was something more about that phrase I just couldn't comprehend.
I looked at her suspiciously. I was about to like her once again but got a little bit startled when she suddenly screamed that she had forgotten.
about the most important thing.
"Miss! Just over there in the kitchen! Don't you want to see it? Why don't we get you a snack?" screamed Vivian and ran.
"Vivian?"
"Follow me, miss ! Over here!"
I don't know why, but I think I just have missed the most important part once again.
The chefs and the maids got startled when they saw me. Most got their mouth hung open, others dropped what they were holding,,
and those who choke on the food they were eating a moment ago.
"Y-Young Lady! For you to be in such a place as this! We are deeply sorry for our appearances," the head said.
named Ruby, as I've recalled. As her name suggests, she must've been named as such because her eyes are those of a ruby's. I can see its pinkish color twinkling even from the distance.
I shook my head left and right eagerly. "What's wrong? It's just a kitchen where the food we eat is made. If I don't like the kitchen, then am I also supposed to hate the food cooked here? Also, what's wrong with your appearance? You all look good. Besides, we
did not even give any notice that we were coming. So step aside from saying something you don't have any fault with. It just doesn't sit right with me, head maid, ruby."
"Miss..."
They fake a tear afterwards. I the started walking around the kitchen and saw that it was all in good condition. The place were neat and elegant looking.
There were a lot of utensils, cutleries, and everything needed for a good meal. They were just silently observing me, and when I was finished, I decided to ask them about the thing I've been curious about since yesterday.
"You see, the meal yesterday was really delicious. I was just kind of wandering...if there are any spicy dish you know of? Sweets are good but...I'm really more into spicy...foods?"
I was surprised to see them grouped up when I look at them because I was looking at the floor the entire time. My head tilted because I suddenly saw a large paper popped out of nowhere.
What are they doing?
"Um...hello?" I tried to get their attention but they just kept on whispering to each other.
