"Alexandra's POV"
"You do have a point. But what shall I do, then?" I whispered. The others who were with me wouldn't be
able to hear
"Greetings, to the young lady sent by the goddess. I'm Rick, the head of the 3rd-tier priests, and assistant of the
High Priest Arman. The people with me are my priest brothers. We are all pleased to meet you." said Rick, who was an old man.
in his 60's I guess."
So it seems like hey go by rankings.
"My name's alexandrabut I'm not so sure anymore. It's also my pleasure to meet you. I still lack knowledge about
this world so I hope I can use some of your assistance."
"Gladly. The Temple will back you up from here onwards, young lady. Alexandra. Ay information that connects to you, and
o this day shall not be known. Even if a single word goes out, the culprit will pay with their life."
I understood what he said, but I was still taken aback by the last sentence he uttered.
"Isn't that...too much?"
Rick walked towards me with a bright smile plastered on his face before stooping just before my eyes. He offered me his right hand and I let him assist me to go down help, as it was really a bit high for me.
I did my best to reach the small stool prepared for me while I tried to step down.
I'm starting the consequences of being a child once again.
I would be lying if I said that I don't feel uncomfortable at all.
Let me rephrase that, I am uncomfortable and really bothered... a lot.
"It has something to do with the goddess. It is not light at all."
HUhhhh~???
What's with this old man?
That's what I'm trying to say in the first place!
"Ah, wait."
I almost forgot Thomas. I'll likely get an earful later about this. Well, never mind.
I tiptoed and grabbed Thomas on the cushioned rectangular box I was lying on a while ago. The place has gotten eerily silent.
while at the same time, Rick and the others showed a confused expression.
Thomas said that his existence was to be kept a secret , and as such, all I could do was fake a smile at them.
"It's my favorite book which my dear friend has given me. I just couldn't leave it alone so I begged you to take it with me."
" Of course, it's just a child's normal book. We pay it no mind. Now, please follow me, young lady."Rick said, even though he knew I'd seen him make a suspicious look.
Ahh...I don't like this old man at all.
He seemed.. too dangerous to me.
I walked with Rick while the others followed suit. Their numbers are not much nor little. My guess would be 14-16 in total.
I was looking left and right, admiring the big room I was in.
There were numerous sculptures, such as a man playing the flute, children singing, a woman giving food, and more that are really pleasing to the eyes.
We stopped by another enormous brown door like 8-9 humans stacked up after each other. Rick pushed the door open, giving me the opportunity to see what was outside.
Oh, if you could just see the sight in front of me, you would all be as amazed as I am too.
Numerous mesmerizing huge birds all gathered in one place just before my eyes. Birds whose feathers are more colorful, brighter, and longer seemed to be shining like jewels when basking in the sunlight. Their beaks are yellow, almost gold, and thrice as large as a normal eagle.
“They’re beautiful…” I uttered into the air, still not in my right mind.
I can’t believe it, but I do.
Yeah, I don’t know what I’m saying either.
They have different characteristics and vibes. Take, for example, their yellow, almost gold eyes visible even in the distance. The iris of their eyes is black, and their shape resembled that of the dinosaur eyes I saw in movies.
I heard a series of chuckles which made me get back to my senses. I felt my cheeks redden all of a sudden, and I tried to cover them with both my hands.
So embarrassing.
You’re not a child anymore, Alexandra.
Geez…blushing and getting amazed like a child.
I pity you.
“They’re called ‘Speckles”, young lady. And just as you’ve said, they’re really beautiful, which is also one of the characteristics they’re famous for. But, I advise you, it would be best not to get fooled by their outer appearance. You see… they’re a little…troublesome”
Speckles is a really cute name just right for them..
They all showed the ‘I agree’ facial expression, and nodded at the same time. I was surprised because Rick also joined with the rest of the priests. If one’s in a high position, it’s already a given that he’ll limit his actions so as to set an example to those under him.
But why is Rick openly showing what he’s feeling?
I don’t get it at all.
“If you don’t mind, may I know what you mean by that?”
My attention turned to the priests, who answered, “ Speckles is indeed a cute name, and it means ‘beware’. If they dislike you even a little bit, they’ll come after you and follow you around just so they can DIRT you, or most of the time your head.”
“..........”
Eeeeekkkkk!!!
Listen, guys. Today, the first thing that I have learned in this world is to never let too beautiful things deceive you.
If it’s TOO MUCH of a good thing, SUSPECT IT IMMEDIATELY, and WITHOUT A DOUBT.
I hugged Thomas tighter because I now see the resemblance between these priests even if they’re not related by blood.
What is it, you ask?
They say things opposite to what seems to be the obvious, and utter scary words with a smiling face.
If I were to rate how much of a threat they are from 1 to 5, it'd be 4 and a half to be precise.
Ughhh…I miss having a conversation with Thomas already.
This place’s really good, but people are creeping the freak out of me.
"The High priest and Duke Frostier are inside. They've been waiting for you." Priest Rick said while he used his palm.
of his right hand to point at the door.
I looked at Ronan for a while, then looked ahead. "Farewell. It was nice to meet you and the other priests. I enjoyed your
company very much."
Opening the medium-sized brown door ahead with a much more complex design than before, I was still able to hear Rick's last words before the door closed.
"The pleasure is ours. Safe Travels, young lady, Alexandra. We'll see each other again...soon."
Soon, huh?
I looked up ahead and saw two people beaming with a not-to-be belittled aura. If I were a real child, I
wouldn't be able to help myself and cry from home, scary they both look right now.
I wanted to facepalm myself right now, but I'll probably have my head served on a silver plate if I do that.
If my guess is right, the High Priest is the elderly on my right side with a tall statue, especially because he was wearing
some kind of headpiece with a small emblem of a woman in the middle. If Rick is in his 60s but still looks younger than his age,
and healthier, the High Priest is much older but has that refreshing vibe around him. He was wearing a high-quality
looking simple, neat, but expensive, looking like a dirty long white gown like that of a priest in a normal world. The design on the edges was expensive-looking.
small but intricate, and very detailed at that.
I, then, looked at Duke Frostier, a girl who has that look that'll make every girl go crazy for him. Even a picture of his side profile would probably be enough to make one faint. With white--snow-shining hair styled neatly to the sides, made him more handsome and he looked like a young gentleman of marriageable age.
Long eyelashes, pointed delicate nose, light-pink lips, sharp jawline, white-noble-like skin, fit body, long legs,..all checked.
However, what really caught my attention the first time I saw him were those clear blue-light blue mixed crystal-like eyes of his.
I only see such colors in pictures on the internet. It really makes me think that it's my first time seeing one this close in real life.
Who could possibly know...?
"Child? Are you alright, child?"
Is this person really going to be my stepfather?
"Do you feel sick? Are you in any pain? Hey, answer me."
I was brought back to my senses when I felt my hands shake my body.
"I'm...sorry." I said in a low pitch voice
This is the second time that my mind wandered out already. How embarrassing would it be if they were to know what I was really
thinking just now?
"you guys just seem so cool...I couldn't help but stare."
The Elderly smiled at me as if he was amused while the Duke stood up because he was bowing earlier as I'm small just so
he can reach me. He then released a sigh of relief afterwards.
I then look up again to observe his crystal slike eyes.
Shhhhh...
He ruffled my hair before stating, You scared me there, kid."
Laughing it off, they helped me sit on the chair where only a box of table separate us together. Me at the end of the table, up front of me is the High Priest, and the Duke on my left side.
"So, let's introduce ourselves, shall we? I am High Priest Arman, head of all priests here in the Temple of the goddess in Adlioos Kingdom. I have the divine powers of healing stronger than any of the priests that reside here. I may be old, but it would be best not to underestimate me solely because of my age."
NOTED>
Second lesson, iif someone tells you not to underestimate them, listen well. It's better tbe careful than regret it later.
"Ahh, yes..." I replied with a smile I stretched with every bit of my face muscles
My attention then turned to Duk Frostier sitting on the left side. If the High Priest sat on his seat like sitting on a throne but in a
humble like manner, the Duke sat with one of his leg on top of the other, his hands crossed as if to show he has real authority, and is straightforward about it.
"My name's Jerarld Evans Romanove Frostier. The acting Head of the Frostier Duchy, kid. How about you?"
