Chapter 5
I met Eric at the coffee shop, nerves fluttering in my stomach.
Eric smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Jade ,it's great to see you."
It's been like 3 years now.
"Yeah " I whispered.
As we chatted, I sensed Terrence's presence behind me.
"Jade, hey," Terrence said, his voice low and possessive.
I turned to find Terrence standing tall, eyes narrowed at Eric.
"Terrence, this is Eric," I introduced.
Terrence's gaze lingered on Eric before returning to me.
"Mind if I join you?" he asked, his tone hinting at ownership.
Eric's eyes flickered with surprise.
"Actually, I'd like to catch up with Lexi alone," Eric replied.
Terrence's jaw clenched.
"I'll wait outside," he said, his eyes locked on mine.
As Terrence left, Eric turned to me.
"Still got a hold on him, huh?" Eric teased.
I blushed.
"Eric, stop."
But Eric's words stirred up old feelings.
And now, seeing him again, those feelings flooded back.
"Jade, be careful," Jenny texted, sensing my unease.
"He's trouble."
But was Eric?
Or was it my heart that was troubled?

The Web of Deceit
Eric's eyes locked onto mine, a hint of intensity.
"Jade, I've been waiting."
I stepped back, uneasy.
"Eric, I told you I'm not interested."
Eric's smile faltered.
"I know. But I couldn't help hoping..."
I crossed my arms.
"You have a girlfriend, Eric. Leave me alone."
Eric's expression darkened.
"Emily means nothing to me. You're the one I want."
My stomach churned.
"You're using her, Eric. Just like you're trying to use me."
Eric's eyes flashed anger.
"You don't understand."
"I understand perfectly," I spat. "You want me on the side, but I won't be your secret."
Eric's face twisted.
"You're making a mistake, Jade."
Suddenly, Terrence appeared behind Eric.
"Time to leave, Eric."
Eric's eyes narrowed.
"This isn't over."
As Eric stormed off, Terrence turned to me.
"Stay away from him, Jade. He's trouble."
Fractured Emotions
As Eric stormed out, I felt a wave of fear wash over me.
Trembling, I tried to hold back tears.
But they broke free, streaming down my face.
Terrence's expression softened.
"Hey, it's okay," he whispered, pulling me close.
I collapsed onto his shoulder, sobbing.
His arms wrapped around me, holding me tight.
For the first time in a long time, I felt safe.
Terrence's gentle strokes on my hair calmed me.
"Shh, Jade. I've got you."
As I cried, Terrence's warmth seeped into my soul.
I felt my walls crumbling, my heart opening.
But was I ready to let him in?
