Chapter 4: The Dawn of Forgiveness

Lu Yunfeng knew he had deeply hurt Zhou Yue, and after returning home, he tried every possible way to salvage their relationship. Every day, he waited outside her door, hoping to exchange a few words with her. Seeing Zhou Yue’s cold attitude toward him filled Lu Yunfeng with guilt.

“Yueyue, I truly realize my mistakes. Please give me a chance to make it up to you,” Lu Yunfeng pleaded, his voice full of desperation.

Zhou Yue’s eyes were icy. “Lu Yunfeng, some wounds, once inflicted, can never be healed. I once trusted you so much, but you betrayed me.”

Zhou Yue turned to leave, but Lu Yunfeng quickly grabbed her hand. “Yueyue, I’ve completely cut ties with Alice. You’re the only one in my heart. Please give me another chance.”

Zhou Yue forcefully shook off his hand. “What does it matter if you’ve cut ties? Can you guarantee that you won’t make the same mistakes again? I can’t bring myself to trust you anymore.”

Lu Yunfeng was left speechless, silently watching Zhou Yue’s retreating figure. He knew that this mistake had cost him Zhou Yue’s trust, and regaining her heart would be an uphill battle.

However, Lu Yunfeng did not give up. He began to reflect on his behavior and worked hard to change himself. He became more composed and focused, no longer the impulsive person he once was. He dedicated more time and energy to his work, achieving significant results. At the same time, he quietly cared for Zhou Yue, always being there to help her when she needed it, yet never intruding on her space.

Although Zhou Yue maintained a cold demeanor toward Lu Yunfeng on the surface, her heart began to waver. She noticed Lu Yunfeng’s changes and felt his sincerity. One day, when Zhou Yue fell ill, Lu Yunfeng rushed to her home as soon as he found out, taking care of her by cooking porridge and buying medicine, attending to her every need. Zhou Yue was finally moved by Lu Yunfeng’s persistence and genuine care.

“Lu Yunfeng, maybe I can give you another chance, but you have to promise that you will never let me down again,” Zhou Yue said, her voice tinged with hesitation.

Lu Yunfeng was overwhelmed with emotion, tears brimming in his eyes. “Yueyue, I swear I will cherish this opportunity and never make the same mistake again.”

From that moment on, Lu Yunfeng and Zhou Yue began to slowly reconnect. Lu Yunfeng carefully nurtured this hard-won relationship, always prioritizing Zhou Yue’s feelings. Zhou Yue gradually let go of her past pain, reopening her heart to accept Lu Yunfeng.

They reminisced about their beautiful past and planned their future together. On a starry night, Lu Yunfeng took Zhou Yue to the place where they had first fallen in love, holding a bouquet of flowers and once again confessing his feelings.

“Yueyue, after all the storms we’ve been through, I am more certain than ever that you are my one true love. I love you and am willing to spend my life protecting you,” Lu Yunfeng said passionately.

Zhou Yue was moved to tears. “Lu Yunfeng, I love you too.”

After reconciling, Zhou Yue and Lu Yunfeng’s lives seemed to return to their previous sweetness. However, new challenges soon arose.

Lu Yunfeng’s career hit a bottleneck; some resources he had accumulated abroad were affected by the turmoil in their relationship, and domestic collaborations faced frequent issues. The pressure on him was immense, and he often worked late into the night, leaving him utterly exhausted.

Zhou Yue felt for Lu Yunfeng and did her best to take care of him outside of work, providing encouragement and support. However, Lu Yunfeng’s mood continued to decline, and he sometimes lost patience with Zhou Yue.

At the same time, a new leader joined Zhou Yue’s company, expressing criticism of her work style and often placing additional pressure on her. In her efforts to prove herself, Zhou Yue worked tirelessly but neglected communication with Lu Yunfeng.

As tensions between them gradually accumulated, a heated argument finally erupted over a trivial matter.
