The Hybrid's Second Chance Mate

Chapter 9: Xavier

I watch her as she finished her cup of blood. For some reason the smell does not bother me. Maverick decided to sniff it but I tried to do it without getting any questioning looks from anyone. After we took a quick smell, I nuzzled into Sky’s neck and waited. I know that there is something else that Sky wants to talk to me about but I am guessing that her parents have something to say to based off the way they are looking at us.

Her father looked to her mother and then back at us. “Sky, Xavier, we are happy that you guys are together and working everything out but it is time for us to look at handing over the kingdom.” Her father tells us. I am shocked by what he is saying. How could they hand everything over to her? How would that work with me being the next Alpha of my pack?

I wanted to voice my concerns but Skylar beat me to it. “Father how can you say something like that. Xavier is the Alpha of his pack and you cannot expect that he will accept my mark either.” She says standing up. I knew that she wanted to talk more and I guess it was about marking me. “Sweetheart, you know that you will need time to figure everything out but that is our plan. We are not asking you to take over tomorrow or next week.” Her father says in a calming tone.

Her mother gets up and walks over to Skylar. “Sky, your father is ready to accept my bite. He wants to be turned. We were planning on talking with you about it 10 years ago but you became our sole focus. He has waited this long and we only wanted to talk with you about it.” I can see the longing in her eyes when she talks to Skylar.

“Go to mate, she needs comfort” Maverick speaks up. I sigh and go to stand up. I walk over towards Skylar and pull her into my arms. “Skylar, let’s hear what they have to say.” I tell her as she snuggles more into my chest. She nods her head and allows me to sit down with her in my lap. Her mother goes to sit next to her father and I feel Sky start to relax.

“Sky, I love your mother and I want to be able to be with her till the end of time. We were going to hand everything over to you when you settled with Gabriel but we never expected someone would be out to get you. We had talked very evening about holding the celebration at the next full moon and then your mother and I taking a trip till I was able to recover from the change.” Her father said in a saddened tone.

“Dad, you didn’t have to wait till I was ok. You could have been turned any time after I recovered. I know that I had my problems and I still am struggling but you didn’t have to wait.” Skylar says. I can feel the sadness coming from her. I nuzzle into her neck, breathing in her sweet scent. I want her to be ok with me and to be open with me but I know there is a lot that we will need to figure out.

“Xavier” I look up to see Skylar’s mother looking at me. “I know that you will have some tough choice to make. I want my daughter happy and she needs you. Without you by her side, she may not live a full life.” I am shocked by what she is saying. I know that Sky will only be able to feed from me. “But that would mean, without meeting me she would have died?” I voiced it out loud.

Both her parents look at Sky and then at me. “Yes, I am afraid so. She would still live for many years but once her vampire side started to die, so would she.” Her mother stated. I hugged Skylar and buried my face in the crook of her neck again. Maverick was howling in my head. I feel Skylar shift in my lap and snuggle into my chest.

After a few moments Skylar speaks up. “Mom, dad, I think Xavier and I have a lot to discuss.” She sighs and moves to get up but I keep her in my lap. I don’t want to let her go just yet. She looks at me and glares. I let her go and she moves over to her father and mother. “You don’t have to wait for me. Go and do what makes you both happy. I will be fine.” She says when she hugs her mother. I see the smile they share before she turns to walk away.

I get up and bow to them both before walking after my amazing mate. When I catch up to her, we are heading towards an office. She opens the door and I know it’s her office by the smell. She goes to sit down behind the desk and pulls out a file. I move to sit in front of the desk waiting for her. She looks ups at me and smiles.

“Xavier, this is the treaty that I had worked on with Keenan to work with your pack. It’s also a peace treaty.” She says before I look down at the file. “I know that it’s only a start to how we will handle things now considering that we are mates” she continues. I look through the file and am shocked. She was very detailed and even stated that a group of her warriors would be stationed at our pack to help with continued attacks and border patrol.

When I look up, I see that she is mind linking with someone. I wait till she is done before we talk about the treaty. Her eyes clear and she smiles at me. “Xavier, my parents are going to take a short trip to the lake house for the weekend. They left me in charge of the kingdom while they are away” she says. I know the reason to the trip and I can’t help by smile too.

“So, what do you think?” she asked me. “Well in all honesty, I am shocked that you would leave a whole team with my pack. There is a lot to discuss with my parents about the treaty but right now what I really want to talk about is us.” She stiffens. I know that this is going to be hard but I want my mate and if it means I give up being the alpha of my pack so be it.

She nods her head. “Skylar, I want to be with you. If that means I have to give up being the Alpha of my pack then I am willing to do so for you. I also want to bare your mark. I know what it will mean but I want to be with you completely.” I see tears in her eyes. I jump up and walk around to her. I get down in my knees in between her legs and hug her. I feel her wrap her arms around me. “Xavier, I don’t want you to give up anything. I know how hard you must have worked to become Alpha. We will find away” she says.

I want to be with her. Maverick is pacing and wants to stand beside his mate. “Join them together” he growls. It makes sense but how would that work. I pull back and look up at Skylar. “I may have an idea” I tell her. She wipes her eyes and nods her head. “What if we join the pack and coven together? I know that the Royal pack and coven are already joined but what if we join my pack of wolves.”

I see her thinking about it and trying to process what I just said. “Xavier, what if some on your pack are not happy with that choice. Not everyone is open to being close to vampires.” I can’t help but chuckle. “Skylar, my pack has more than just werewolves. There are vampires and even witches that live in my pack. We are a very open pack compared to others.” She looks at me with a smile. That smile makes me feel like I just won the lottery.

I know that we are going to have to talk with my parents about bring our pack together with the royal pack and coven. "We will have to talk with my parents about it but I think they will be more than happy to help in any way they can." I tell her. She nods her head and I feel her arms tighten around me more. I smile at how much she wants this to work. She pulls back and looks into my eyes. "I can have Keenan start working a draft that we can present to you parents" I nod my head and move to stand up. "Let's get work princess" She blushes at being called princess and I can't help the smile.
