Abigail Houston sat on the stage of the Commencement Ceremony, waiting for the actual thing to start just so it would get over with sooner. Unlike most Lycan, Abigail hated crowds, she hated speaking in front of crowds even more. As Valedictorian, she had to speak on front of the entire host of students graduating this year. Most of them she didn't know and had never met, the school thinking it would be a great inspiration to show them all that at only 16, she had graduated with a Doctorate in Law.
While she looked out, she saw that almost every student had someone from their family there. The seats reserved for her parents because of the Dean, empty. She hadn't even bothered to call them and ask if they were coming, as she didn't care about them one way or the other. She already had her own plans, none of them involving her family. She smiled as the signal was given that they would be starting shortly, her speech the very first of the many they would have to sit through today.
She stepped up to the pulpit, her nerves going crazy as she looked at all of them. "Welcome everyone, to the Commencement Ceremony for the class of 2180. Long has the road been for those graduating today, the work hard and hours long. For most of us, the list of those supporting us is long. From teachers, professors, counselors, friends and for the fortunate, family. We the class of 2180 thank you for the support you have given us." she started as the entire stadium of graduates applauded.
"Today however is a celebration of our achievements and hard work, that with or without support we have accomplished here today." she said surprised at the cheers from them again. "Today marks the beginning of our next journey, as we venture out into the world to begin applying what we have learned. Today marks the day that we begin leaving our own marks on the world, hopefully impacting it for the betterment of everyone." she told them to even more cheers she hadn't expected. "So without further ado, let the Commencement Ceremony begin." she finished before taking her seat again.
The Ceremony was far longer than she would have liked, glad when her name was finally called to receive her diploma so she could leave the hall without having to waste more time on it. She knew she had to act fast, most of her stuff already having been moved as she knew the Alpha of her parents Pack would be waiting to for her at the end of the ceremony. She slipped away before anyone realized what she was doing, the guards at the front while she slipped out one of the side entrances to disappear.
She knew she had to move fast, as the Ceremony wouldn't last much longer because of how few graduates had to be called to receive their diploma. So she ran with everything she had, making it to her Jeep before the guard who was there to get here called the phone she had from the Alpha. She smiled as she answered it.
"What?" she demanded.
"We are here to pick you up to return to your parents, where are you?" Brian Michaels asked as the Delta of the Bright Horn Pack.
"Well Brian, if you are still at the graduation ceremony my parents couldn't be bothered to come too, I am not. As for returning to your Pack, never going to happen. Tell my so called parents they made their choice to not have anything to do with me, I just happen to be returning the favor." she answered before putting the phone onto the trailer of a semi that was parked not far from her Jeep before she got in and left in the opposite direction.
