Chapter 2: Alessa:

1338 Words
I wake up with a light shining and my back hurting. I open my eyes and take in my surroundings when I notice the body beside me. He must have grabbed the blanket off the couch at some point last night before passing out so we wouldn’t be cold since we were both still naked underneath. Liam looks so peaceful in his sleep, and I notice little things that I didn’t catch the night before. The little scar on his eyebrows, the freckle on his lip. He’s got a tattoo of a Heart right below his ear as well. I touch his hair one more time, he stirs in his sleep, and I freeze, not wanting to wake him I spot my skirt under the couch and grab it getting my phone out of my pocket and notice it's 9:30 in the morning. I slowly get up and get dressed leaving Liam on the floor. Not believing that we did what we did, I find my shoes under the couch, grab them, and slowly make my way to the door. I open the door and peek outside, traffic and people are everywhere which is to be expected for a Saturday morning, but no one notices me as I quietly shut the door trying not to wake Liam. I put my heels back on and walked back home as I thought to myself this is what it is like to do the walk of shame. While on my walk back I returned the call to my mother after noticing that she called me twice and told her about being invited out for drinks after work, leaving out how I left with Liam, a random stranger I met at the bar. She sounds excited for me that I’m making friends and somehow, I don’t think she would approve of me hooking up with Liam. We talked for a few minutes before she told me she must go because she was going to lunch with the girls again. Passing the bar, I realized that I left my bag when I left with Liam last night. Seeing movement inside the window, I tap on it. A younger woman walks over to the window, points to where the closed sign is hung up and starts to walk away again. I knock harder letting her know I’m not leaving, “I left my bag here last night, I was wondering if it's still here,” I yell hoping that she can hear me. She walks away and I wait a few minutes. Thinking she didn’t hear me I lift my arm to tap again as I hear the door begin to unlock. She tosses the bag at me, not even asking if its mine and shuts the door going back on her mission to clean the bar. I sigh as I look at the bag to make sure it's mine and that everything is in it. Opening it I see a note from Jamie with her phone number and a note saying to call her when I get the bag back. Calling Jamie's number, she answers on the third ring. “This is Jamie.” “Jamie! It's Alessa.” She starts squealing into the phone. Immediately she starts asking questions. “Who was that guy? Is he still with you? Where did you go? What did you do? Was it good? Why didn’t you give me your phone number before you left!” she continues to ramble on as I just sigh, rolling my eyes, and continue to my apartment. I start answering her questions as soon as she stops asking “Are you going to see him again?” “I don’t think so, I didn’t ask for his number, and I left as soon as I woke up, he was still asleep on the floor.” I was up to my apartment building and noticed that Philip had heard me, shaking his head he opened the door for me, and I felt myself blushing. “I've never done anything like that before, so I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do so I got up and left.” “Well, it's probably for the best,” she states. “He could have been crazy.” Her saying that gives me flashbacks of Micheal before he tried to kill me. I shake my head trying to get those memories to go away. “You know Jayden wasn’t happy after you left with that guy. He ended up throwing a glass at a wall and leaving.” Jamie says bringing me back to the conversation from dark thoughts. “Really? Why?” “I’m not sure. No one else seemed to understand either, it was out of character for him he is usually a nice guy. I think he may have thought you guys would be going back to his apartment.” she laughs. I plop down on the couch, “I can't.” I sigh. “I probably should have told him that from the start, but he wouldn’t stop buying my drinks and I was getting overwhelmed. I don’t sleep with the people I work with.” Jamie laughs “I should probably pick up that rule.” “You and Jayden?????” “Only a couple of times, we stopped when you walked in for the first time. Hasn’t really talked about it since.” Wow, I think to myself I never thought that Jamie would do that. But she’s got the looks for it so I could see why she would. “Did you hear me Alessa?” “Huh, sorry I spaced out.” “Clearly” She laughs. “I asked if you wanted to get together this weekend. Maybe give me the details with the mystery stranger.” I laugh, not feeling comfortable enough to talk to her about it. “I can’t I have to finish my work and get ready for Monday.” “LAME!!!” she yells into the phone which makes me laugh again. I tell her I’m getting off the phone and before she can scream lame into the phone again and laugh. A few minutes go by, and she sends a text “ass” which makes me laugh again. I give myself a few minutes each day to reflect on how I got to this point. A few minutes each day to feel sorry for myself before getting in the shower. Getting up I go back to my room, and I notice my closet door was open when it was shut the first time I came back here. The window was cracked open when it was shut before. I calm myself down before overreacting, first thing I do is look under the bed. No one was there, I looked in the closet and, in my bathroom, but nothing. Chalking it up to my active imagination, I go straight to the shower telling myself to stop. Stop thinking about Liam, Stop thinking about Micheal, just stop. As I begin to undress, I notice a handprint bruise on my hip from where Liam had grabbed me the night before “Well so much for forgetting.” I sighed. After getting out and throwing on my pajamas, grabbing some breakfast, and going back to the room so I can watch TV. I still had the creepy feeling that something isn't right, someone has been in my room that wasn’t me. I can’t call the police; Micheals has been in jail for a year, so I know I'm being dramatic. My mind wonders back to Liam, wondering what would have happened if I would have stayed. If I had gotten his number, I could have texted him or even left mine on a note, something to see if he would call me back. My mind wonders over the things that we could be doing right now, flashbacks over what happened last night on that rug cross my mind until I fall asleep.
