Strangers POV

903 Words
I hadn’t meant to walk into the pub. I had no plans to go anywhere near her. But I couldn’t stop my feet from moving forward. Her smell, her walk, her nervous habits were all so intriguing to me. I couldn’t drink the beer she gave me. I wanted to linger for as long as possible without seeming like a creep. She knew nothing of my existence, of my world. How could you convince someone life isn’t what it seemed? I also knew that she knew nothing of who she was or of what she possessed. I had my work cut for me. I had intended to stay home, but I couldn’t fight the overwhelming feeling to follow her to the farmers market. The way she conversed with everyone and made everyone smile who came in contact with her was so sweet. She was just a people person. A good quality to possess in my world. I would need her to be easy to get along with and to nurture and care for others. All in good time I thought to myself as I headed back to the small flat I rented not even 5 miles from her. Upon arriving home I was restless. I hadn’t spoken to my parents for weeks. I had only told them I was in search of someone, but I didn’t know who they were or where I’d find them. Flashback I boarded the flight from Moon Cove to Ireland, not sure why I had decided to come here. I usually trusted my instincts as they have never been wrong in the past. I was so careful not to give anything about myself away. All of the flight attendants were drawn to me, but I just brushed them off. Honestly I hate all of the attention that comes my way. I’m a bit of a loaner, which is weird considering I will be taking over my father’s position as king in Moon Cove upon reaching the age of 21. That was fast approaching as my 21st birthday is only 3 months away. My mother doesn’t understand my hesitancy as it was always known this would happen. I’m just not ready. I feel incomplete. Pushing these thoughts to the back of my mind, I tried to catch a little sleep on the flight. I dreamed of a girl with long black hair and piercing blue eyes, a girl who was unlike any other woman I’d ever met. I knew she’d possess a powerful magic as the vision told me I’d have to protect her from those who sought to destroy her My mother told me I always had a sixth sense of knowing things when I was a young boy. Upon turning 18 we figured out why as I’d been given the gift of visions. A very rare gift. On the way to my newly rented flat, I saw her! She was absolutely beautiful. My pulse elevated and my breathing quickened. My heart felt like it had just been jolted by a million volts of electricity. I had to meet her. I entered my front door and put my things down. I started to unpack and just couldn’t take it anymore. My feet had their own agenda. So to the pub I went. Present tense I decided to call my mother to let her know that I found the person I was looking for. Now I only had to get her to fall in love with me and go back to Moon Cove to be my queen. Ya. That’s not going to be easy. I completely lose all confidence and only look creepy because I can’t form a smile or even get a word out. I’ve managed hello so far. Great. My mother answers the phone “hello son. Are you well?” “ yes mom. I’m perfectly fine. I’ve found the girl that I’ve been dreaming about. I know I didn’t tell you or dad exactly the reason I left, but I didn’t want you to think I had gone mad,” I say to her. “We had a feeling this was about a girl. We just know these things,” she says to me. I chuckle because she’s always known me so well. “When will you be home,” she asks me. “Just as soon as I get her to fall in love with me, get her to accept who and what she is, and get her to accept that she will be a queen in every sense of the word…all while explaining that the world she knows isn’t real. So it may take a while,” I tell her. “Don’t be to long. You must be here for your 21st birthday. It is such an important night,” she stresses. “I know mom. I won’t miss it,” I say to her. “Well then, Son, get to work. Update me at the end of the week to let me know the progression,” she says. “Yes mom. I will. I love you Mom,” I say as I hang up the phone. Leaning back on the couch I sigh and put my head into my hands. How am I going go do this and not seem like a pompous ass I think to myself. I form a plan in my mind and hope that I can pull it off.
