That evening, Ethan returned to his apartment building once again. As he climbed upstairs, he noticed Clara struggling to unlock her door while carrying several books. Without speaking, Ethan took the books from her hands. Clara looked slightly surprised. “You help people too easily,” she said quietly. Ethan smiled faintly. “Maybe because I know what it feels like when nobody helps you.” For a moment, Clara simply stared at him. Then she opened the door and softly said, “Come in for tea.” Ethan blinked in surprise. This was the first time she had invited him inside. Her apartment was simple yet elegant. Everything was neat. Soft piano music played quietly in the background. Clara poured tea calmly while Ethan looked around. “You live alone?” he asked. She nodded slightly. “Mostly.” “Mostly?” A faint smile appeared on her lips. “My family is… complicated.” Ethan chuckled softly. “Mine too.” Clara handed him a cup before sitting across from him. “You’re not what I expected,” she suddenly said. Ethan frowned. “What were you expecting?” “A spoiled rich heir.” “And instead?” Clara looked directly into his eyes. “Someone kind.” For reasons Ethan couldn’t explain— His heartbeat quickened.
