(Liliana Andilet’s Point-of-View)
The raindrops outside the window grew in size and quickened their fall as they continued to rain. The city was engulfed in thick storm clouds that were loaded with gloomy gloominess as if the clouds were in rhythm with the mourners' anguish and distress. Everyone in the room is showing respect for the departed by bending their heads and casting their eyes to the floor in honor of the person who has passed away.
"Well, this is it." The man, who was in his late eighties, uttered as his figure appeared beside me. "I could finally get to see my dearest wife again."
His voice was thin, dry, and breathy, and it drew my attention to his face. He had a dry, thin, and breathy voice. As his sunken eyes looked down at the white casket, his wide, freckled face pinched into a faint frown. He stared at the coffin with a blank expression. It was conceivable that once his soul passed from this world and into paradise, his appearance would transform into that of an eternally youthful person.
"I'm sure you will climb heaven and see your wife again. No more pain and no more suffering this time," my focus traveled from his face to the white coffin, where his lifeless body lay inside. "I have been tasked to be your guardian since the day you were born. And I watched your mother give birth to you, and until the day of your last breath."
He removed his gaze from his body inside the coffin and stared at me in awe. "Are you saying that... You're telling me that you're my... Angel?"
I nodded and set my focus on him. "That's correct, I was your guardian angel. You were a good man and you did not deserve to die out of our creator's will. You deserve eternal happiness, Robert. And I know that your family will seek justice for you."
His heavy-lidded eyes started to become teary. "Your presence is comforting… You're comforting. It's my first time meeting an angel and I've never been happier. Because I always knew that angels were real."
"You will also be meeting archangels above," I said and gave him a small smile. "And, therefore, heaven awaits you."
A sudden whitish glow with a faint incandescence formed behind him, taking the form of a hazy and smoky framework. Through the bright white light that was emanating from the ceiling, one could make out a colossal stairway. A male archangel without wings approached us, while its luminous figure descended the big stairs behind him. He extended his hand to the elderly man and walked towards us.
"Come with me, my brother," gently said the beautiful archangel. "Heaven awaits for your arrival."
The eyes of the elderly man shifted his focus away from the divine face of the archangel and onto the gathering of people in front of him. As the humans were busy consoling and comforting one another in silence, they were oblivious of what the seraphim were doing because what they were doing was regarded to be unseen to the eyes of mortals.
"It's time to go, Robert." I said and looked at the large staircase to heaven. "Eternal youth and happiness is waiting for your presence."
If I leave, who will watch over my family? If I leave, who will guide them? Who will protect them?
Hearing the old man's thoughts, I placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile. "They have their guardian angels with them."
"It is indeed true," the archangel replied graciously. "They have their guardian angels watching over them, guiding them and protecting them. You have nothing to worry about."
After letting out a long breath, he nodded his head and exhaled again. He reached out and took the archangel's hand before leading the two of them toward the enormous stairway. After glancing in my direction, the elderly gentleman mouthed the words ‘thank you’ in a tone of voice that was barely audible, and then he and his companion continued ascending the staircase leading to paradise. When they had at long last attained unending joy, the white dazzling glow that had been around them gradually began to disappear.
The elderly guy was able to get back his wife, to his great pleasure, and the two of them would live happily ever after. My job as his guardian angel was finished, which meant that I would soon be reassigned to a new individual to serve as their watcher and protector rather.
My bare feet made contact with the chilly and wet rooftop of the building in the city that was the highest at the time. Suddenly, I was no longer there at the funeral. My skin felt the prickling sensation of the windy breeze and the heavy rain that was falling. My heavenly white robe became drenched in fluids as a result of the stormy weather, which also resulted in my hair taking the form of tangled tendrils of moisture.
"Liliana..." Called by the flat and emotionless voice behind me.
When I turned back, a different figure was there to greet me when I arrived. In addition, the rain had left its mark on his hair, making it damp and wet, and his immaculate black coat was drenched. His demeanor conveyed nothing but gloom and despondency at every turn.
"Hey, Luca..." I lazily waved at him as he walked towards my spot, standing beside me. "What are you doing up here getting soaked in the rain?"
"To see you," his eyes roamed from my form to the loud busy road beneath this building. "I heard the last person you guided with, he died."
Words sure did spread fast like wildfire in the angel community.
I nodded as my eyes fixed on the honking cars and to the people busily crossing down the road under this tall structure. "He died. But he died happily, and one of the archangels took him to heaven."
The fact that Luca Nicholas was dressed in a gown of a dark tone, which gave off an air of melancholy and misery, was a telltale sign that he was one of the few angels who had fallen from heaven. He had been a guardian angel in the past, but he was removed from that position since he was not performing his duties as a guardian, a protector, and a watcher very well. He was given a different mission, a challenging assignment, to complete in order to demonstrate to himself that he was capable of continuing in his role as a guardian angel, but he was still unable to do it successfully.
There were three types of angels that existed in the world that we inhabited as seraphim: the guardian, the arch, and the fallen. The guardian angels were charged with the responsibility of guiding, watching over, and defending a particular individual, group of people, or nation right up to the moment that they took their final breath. While this was going on, the archangels may be found up in heaven or in Archseer. These angels were stationed in heaven, where they played melodies on instruments, sang in choirs, communicated with angels stationed on earth, and kept watch over the souls of those who had passed on. Archangels were spirits and did not have a physical form in their true existence. In addition to serving Mother Delilah, the mother of all angels, they kept watch over each and every angel that resided on earth as well as Archsentinel, the location where all of the fallen angels were being held.
Last but not least, the angels that had fallen from heaven were the ones who were barred from doing specific duties. They were the fundamental forces of darkness in the universe because they did evil and ignored their responsibilities. Archsentinel was a place of darkness and isolation that served as a place of punishment for fallen angels. Despite this, fallen angels were nevertheless granted the ability to freely move about on earth. Only Mother Delilah and the fallen angels had any idea what an Archsentinel actually resembled in their true form. Nobody else did.
We have seen the activities of people from the collapse of the Assyrian empire to Donald Trump's impeachment because angels have existed since before the year four-hundred, thus this meant that we had watched the acts of humans. In other words, we were able to apply things with our hands that were related to things that come from the mortal world, such as its early mathematics, the use of technology, and learning the most difficult degrees in school.
There was no such thing as the halos that float above our heads. Instead, we have access to a technique known as emission, which enabled us to dissipate into thin air and then reappear in the location of our choosing without having to travel further. We also have the capacity to hear minds, which proved to be rather useful if a human being was in a precarious situation. We placed a high value on immortality since it would free us from hunger, pain, and all other forms of bodily torment.
We also have the power to perform what were known as visitation dreams on humans, in which we make an appearance in the dreams of other individuals. This occured most frequently when a specific person or a deceased person requests us to fulfill a favor by facilitating dream communication with another person on their behalf who they were looking for. In addition to our unfathomable intelligence and our facility to speak multiple languages, we were also endowed with an extraordinary vitality that did not rely on us having the fundamental requirements for life in order to sustain it. Because our senses were so acute, we were able to obtain extremely specific information from them.
Angels, regardless of whether they were arch, guardian, or fallen, possessed the ability to perform telekinesis, moving unrelated objects with our minds. Out of all of the powers that we have, the ability to heal others was the one that I liked the most since it was the easiest for me to execute. Our abilities were strong enough to cure any illness or condition, including wounds, diseases, and a wide variety of other ailments. And now, the abilities that I haven't used to their full potential were presented here. They were referred to as revitalize, and they have the ability to return the dead back to life in addition to providing a channel reading. Reading a person's channel required placing one's palm on their chest in order to access their innermost thoughts and feelings. Nevertheless, the procedure was a distressing ordeal for the human, and it could leave a person with physical and mental harm. The possibility of such outcomes frightened me, and I tried to avoid thinking about these.
Oh, and if you were wondering, angels all have our own unique names. These names that we went by were not your typical names at all. Our names were derived from angels who were before us, and these names were also given to a variety of other angels throughout the course of angelic history.
“Liliana Andilet?” Somebody cleared their throat from behind.
I turned my back and was greeted by a female angel. “Yes?”
She responded. “I came here to deliver a message. It’s from Mother Delilah.”
