(Liliana Andilet’s Point-of-View)
A female angel had greeted us. She was wearing a white dress with a finesse fabric, the sleeves reached up to her wrists and the length of the dress went up to her ankles as well. Luca was too stunned to speak as he watched the angel in front of us. She possessed a divine and breath-taking beauty. Her hair had an orange shade and it was curled up to her shoulders, but the curls turned into damp tendrils when she stood beneath the rain.
She responded. “I came here to deliver a message. It’s from Mother Delilah.”
I took the envelope from her hand that she was handing to me and I studied the object with my eyes. The envelope was starting to get wet from the raindrops. It had a beige hue with a golden stamp that indicated it was from Mother Delilah. Its weight was light but it had a rough texture.
“You should’ve taken this to me the other day.” I said. “So that you won’t end up getting wet here at the rooftop. As well as the envelope, and I hope the handwritten message won’t fade from the wetness of the rain.”
She humbly apologized to me. “I understand and I apologize. I would gladly take this letter to you on the following day if it’s not that important. But Mother Delilah insisted even though I told her that you might be taking a break after the death of the last person you guided. She stated that the letter is to determine if you should remain a guardian or not.”
“What does that mean?” My eyes widened. “Am I getting punished or what?”
On the other hand, Luca remained silent as he witnessed the scenario with his hands shoved in his pockets. Maybe Luca knew what was going on but chose to shut his mouth. I didn’t know what to feel at this moment. Should I be surprised? Of course. Should I get confused? Reasonable. Should I be mad? Not until I could confirm what was happening. Situations like these meant that I must have done something wrong.
She frowned. “I think it would be best if you will check your letter, Liliana. It will bring you to the answers that you are looking for right now.”
She smiled before vanishing into the thin air. I tilted my head to look at Luca, but his gaze was fixated from afar like he was in a deep thought. I cleared my throat and got his attention so I gave him a look if he knew what was going on. I watched his chest rise and fall before explaining.
“Just like forty-three years ago, I received the exact envelope that you have right now. Earlier, I was stunned when I saw that Messenger as she was the angel who gave me the letter from Mother Delilah before I turned into a fallen angel.” He stated. “Just like what she said, the letter is to determine if you should still remain a guardian. Cases like this, you must have done something concerning.”
That female angel was a Messenger. She was one of the archangels in heaven but had a specific role of delivering messages to the angels on earth and Archsentinel. And I couldn’t help but wonder if I had done something very unacceptable to reach this concern.
I was about to open my mouth when he added. “I hate to break this to you, but there might be a possibility that you will turn into one of us and get punished in Archsentinel. What I would advise you is if there’s a task you must do to avoid becoming a fallen angel, do it. Put all your tears and sweat on it, even sacrificing your life. Archsentinel is the worst hell you could experience but Mother Delilah is kind enough to give us breaks from our endless punishment.”
The rain slowly stopped from pouring hard but a roaring thunder and lightning evidently striked in the dark skies. The cold air tapped against our pale skin and it blew my long hair from behind.
“It’s time for me to go back.” Luca sighed.
A frown appeared on my face. He walked closer to me and had his arms wrapped around me tightly, feeling the wetness of our bodies collided from soaking the pouring rain. After letting go from his tight embrace, I watched him vanish into the thin air. Probably going back to Archsentinel.
My fingertips found the stamp of the envelope and brushed them on the rough emblem of Mother Delilah’s. I opened the envelope and took out a folded paper from the inside. I unfold the paper and read what was written with my eyes.
“Liliana, I hope you’re doing alright. And I’m sorry about Robert’s death. It was truly heartbreaking.” I rolled my eyes before continuing. “Anyway, I hope you aren’t busy today as I have something important to discuss with you in terms of your behavior for these years. See you at Aeciryon.”
In a snap, I vanished from the top of the building and I was now standing in front of a small white house in a split second. A curvy path made out of white and grey bricks served as the pathway towards the house. Before stepping on the path, there was a white arbor that would greet you the moment you stepped inside the white-picket fences.
In the garden, old-fashioned and traditional flowers were grown from healthy soils. Snapdragon flowers consisting of pink, yellow and white shades beautifully blooming. The pansy flowers that were blending with the green leaves were also captivating in the eyes and some hadn't even bloomed yet. The flowers had romantic feelings, as most of the plants were possessing pastel shades.
Homey furniture was attractive to the sights, and it was also placed in the garden. Adirondack, wooden chairs were placed that could take you into a calming state when positioning oneself in the garden. Weathered wood fences were also used to protect some of the plants. Some of the accessories in the garden were antique heirlooms which created a more vintage scenery.
I approached the small white house and twisted the doorknob. Inside, everything was just plain white. White floor and white walls, with a golden chandelier illuminating at the center. At the corner, there was a desk and a swivel chair thus bookshelves were filled with books.
“Liliana Andilet?” A woman emerged from the room.
It was Mother Delilah. Her dark hair was put up in a neat, tight bun. Her tan skin was glowing beneath the bright light and she was dressed elegantly. I noticed how her heels made powerful clanking noises against the white marble floor.
She had distinctive facial features from what I observed. Prominent jawline, doe eyes and full lips. It looked like she was aging backwards. This was the first time meeting the mother of all angels and this rarely happens unless there’s something important to discuss.
“Mother Delilah.” I slightly bowed my head.
She threw a smile at my direction before moving to the desk. The Aeciryon, it’s a meeting place of the angels of earth and Mother Delilah. It was also my first time stepping into a place like this.
“How are you doing, Liliana?” She plopped herself on the swivel chair.
I shrugged my shoulders. “I was doing fine until I received your letter, Mother Delilah. Luca said I did something concerning.”
Mother Delilah gestured at the empty seat. “Have a seat, dear.”
I took the empty seat in front of her. “Mother Delilah, is there a possibility that I will turn into a fallen someday? Please explain.”
“Well, your behavior these past few years is quite concerning,” she heaved a deep sigh. “I can’t help but notice. There’s something I’d like to discuss with you.”
