(Third Person’s Point-of-View) Mother Delilah proceeded to the cabinet and took out an item from within. She presented Liliana with a brown folder that contained a stack of white sheets of paper on the inside. While she was receiving the brown folder from Mother Delilah, she ran her fingers across the surface of the folder. Liliana indulged her natural curiosity and peered inside, where she discovered some information pertaining to a specific person. She reasoned that it was only logical for her to take charge of guiding that one particular person. Mother Delilah sighed. “I am very disappointed with your actions, Liliana. I am expecting greatness from you since you are one of the earth’s guardian angels.” “I— I don’t know what you are talking about, Mother Delilah. Please elaborate more.” She shook her head. She responded. “I have seen the way you guide humans. Instead of watching over them, you just let them struggle on their own. Make some sarcastic remarks when they are struggling instead of helping them. To the point that you don’t even care if they get into an accident.” And there, she remembered what Mother Delilah was talking about. Months earlier… His fingers gripped on the brown, wooden handrail as he carefully walked down the staircase on his own. He held harder to support himself because of the extreme bulk and heaviness that was trying to weigh him down. Thus the skin met the socket he was wearing which made him experience the pain. He had a slim build, and as he aged, the color of his skin became whiter and more clear-toned. As he got older, he had a few freckles on his face, as well as receding hair. He had a white polo shirt on, and despite the discomfort and soreness he was feeling, a bright and blissful smile was still morphed across his face. He was a disabled veteran and he lost his other leg because of war. He fought hard and was willing to die for the country during his early years. But his service was a big help and at his age now, he’s living a calm and peaceful life. “Oh, dear. Despite being an amputee for years now, I’m still working on how to move with one leg.” He struggled. A female figure leaned against the hard wall as she watched the old man trying to struggle climbing down the stairs. She stayed at the corner with her arms crossed against her chest. Her dress was as white as snow and the length reached to her ankles. The dress she was wearing had a v-neck neckline and a small, single pearl necklace was clasped around her neck. It was lacey and her clothing was flowing behind her in a delicate fineness. The sleeves reached up to her wrists and the fabric was hugging her figures. She rolled her eyes and murmured beneath her breath. “Oh, God. How can someone be so pathetic?” The old man was still struggling with his hand still gripping on the handrail and the moment he was about to take another stride, his foot missed the wooden tread and ended up finding himself falling down on the staircase. The female figure leaning against the wall just witnessed the scenario and instead of helping the poor man, she just snorted in amusement. A wingless, guardian angel. No human could see and recognize her demeanor, except for her fellow angels who were just like her. And Greg was the man who was assigned to her. Her role was to look after a human who was tasked to her. To guide them, to protect them. But here she was, not even having sympathy for the person who just hurt himself. “Oh, Dear. Greg, are you okay? I heard a loud thud.” A different woman scurried in the room. The woman was twice her size and she wore her housekeeping services uniform. And the moment she heard a thud, she immediately rushed inside the room and helped Greg stand on his stance. Greg laughed warmly. “Oh, how silly of me. My bad, I should’ve watched my step.” “But still,” she shook her head. “You must be careful next time.” Her attention went back to the present as she tilted her head and looked at Mother Delilah with guilt. She was guilty, not because she felt bad for the old man. She was guilty because she didn’t do her job so well that she might end up as a fallen angel someday. “I— I remembered now, Mother Delilah.” She bit her lower lip. Then she thought back to a different circumstance. Once, she was ordered to guide a young lady who had been born without eyes. When the young woman fell on the wet floor, she could have helped the woman, but she laughed so hard that she was unable to see well enough to assist her. If they had been angels like Liliana, other angels would have felt guilty about being witnesses to such a tragic event. “See the folder in your hands?” Mother Delilah added. “The white papers on the inside are the details about the person you will be guiding next. This person has a very high profile in the country, and he is known as one of the dangerous men. He’s part of the mafia syndicate.” She continued. “Your task is to watch him and protect him, considering that he manages to engage in dangerous activities. Not just that, but also to stop him from doing illegal practices— “But how am I supposed to do that?” Liliana cutted her off. “It’s your task, Liliana, so it's up to you how you will do it. It is not determined how long you will guide this person but you must succeed with the mission. If you fail, you will become a fallen angel.” She frowned. “f**k!” She cursed beneath her breath. The enormous yacht, valued at a billion dollars, was white and looked like it was gliding effortlessly across the water as it approached the largest beach in the country. The yacht was a perfect example of the words "elegant" and "sophisticated." In addition to that, the waves on the water were soothing, and the sun was shining brightly against skies that were a clear blue color. He was able to acquire the bottle of Moet et Chandon that was stored away. He managed to succeed in removing the cork from the bottle just in time to prevent the bottle from exploding. The men immediately surrounding him hollered their happiness in triumph. On board the yacht, everyone could be heard making various noises while s*x and drug anthems played in the background. Men rented escorts, and as they sat in the room, they spread their legs apart and draped their arms over the shoulders of the attractive women who served as their escorts. Everyone in attendance was able to unwind and enjoy themselves without disturbance because the owner of the yacht happened to be their boss's son. Syndicates considered Darius Throndsen to be their underboss, and they anticipated that he would one day succeed his father as the organization's boss. “The underboss successfully extorted the jewel company’s CEO. Should’ve seen his cowardly face, he must've been quivering in horror!” One of the men hysterically laughed. “But I’m not surprised, Darius is really good with his work.” Darius walked to the person who was laughing hysterically and poured some Moet et Chandon into the person's glass. He broke into a sly grin as his expression shifted. The men that surrounded him also laughed as they talked about the victim that their underboss had intimidated. “What can I say, we are talking about money bills here. Worth millions.” Darius grinned widely. “Had to scare him off so I had his newly purchased car lit on fire.” “—And cutted the fingers and toes of his ex-wife.” Another man laughed and took a sip on his champagne. Darius added. “I only lit his Bugatti, but I have my men ordered to take his wife as well. In exchange for their accounts.” Darius poured himself a drink and savored the mixture of dry and sweet flavors as he watched the second glass being filled. Before anyone said anything, everyone raised their glasses to the occasion. He left his men in their state after they had satisfied their newly acquired desires, and then he left them. He stepped out into the fresh air and basked in the warmth of the sun as he took in the sights and sounds of the seagulls flying overhead and the waves crashing against the shore. Leaning against the railings of the yacht, he was able to protect his eyes from the glare of the sun. Then he turned his focus to a particular set of circumstances. One of his men was spotted out in the water engaging in some kind of activity. The white jet ski moved forward at a constant speed as it slanted forward. He moved away from the railing in order to join his companion in the water sport because it appeared to be enjoyable. After reemerging on the shore, it did not take Liliana long at all to materialize among the rocks in the water. She casted her gaze in every direction, but all she saw was nothing but void. The beach and water were in pristine condition, but there were no visitors there to enjoy them. She was whipped by the wind as it caught her white dress and blew off the beach. Then she realized that she had been standing on one of the massive brown sea rocks with nothing on her feet until that point. She was still holding the brown folder, but before she left Aeciryon, she did not have the opportunity to examine the contents of the folder. Therefore, she opened the folder, reached inside, and pulled out the first sheet of paper she saw. “His name is Darius Throndsen, twenty-nine years old.” She read the details aloud. “He’s the underboss of the mafia syndicate.” Her eyes darted around the empty shore as she remained motionless, looking in every direction but one. Mother Delilah claimed that Darius must be in the area, but she hasn't seen anyone who looks like they could be Darius. A single hour, two hours, or three hours... Three hours had passed, and she had not been joined by anyone else. If this mission didn't put her life in tragedy, she would have quit the moment she found out about it. That was, until she became aware of something. She saw two jet skis whizzing around the water, and she could tell from the tone of the riders' laughter that they were both men. She also noticed that the jet skis were white. Despite this, she did not make an effort to approach any of them because she was unable to determine which of them was Darius. As she watched the two men bask in the glow of their great privilege, a tiniest smile began to form on her lips. She was left wondering what it was like to be a human. You did not have any responsibilities as a guardian, so you were free to pursue activities that were forbidden to angels. You did not need to be concerned about the possibility that she would evolve into a fallen angel. She followed them as they continued to jet ski and, after getting a better look at the two men, she realized that one of the men was, in fact, Darius. That was, up until the point where she heard a splash of water. When she did, she discovered that Darius had been thrown into the water after falling off of his jet ski. She was shocked to recognize this. She was about to rush into the water to save him, but she hesitated for a moment because she didn't know how deep the water was, and she didn't want Darius to drown because doing so would make her job more difficult. The seaweed caused her to slip when she put her weight on the other rock and caused her to slide away. As soon as her body made contact with the water, she realized that she had plunged into a large body of water. She flailed her arms and legs in an attempt to swim back to the surface of the water, but her efforts were pointless. She was experiencing such a severe panic attack from within that it was difficult for her to do anything to assist herself in any way. She made an effort to breathe despite the fact that she knew she could, but she discovered that she was unable to do so. She assumed that because she was an angel, she also possessed eternal life. Despite this, she was under the impression that she was drowning in a human-like manner. It hurt her to even think about taking a breath, because she desperately needed to. She made a number of attempts to pull herself out of the water, but the current was too strong. As she struggled, what felt like an interminable amount of time passed. She heaved a sigh and made an effort to calm herself down. The water at the beach was salty due to the fact that it was cold, and it caused her teeth to hurt. When the water first made contact with the back of her throat, she experienced a terrible case of brain freeze, but after a few seconds, she stopped feeling anything at all. Her entire body went under the water's surface, and just as her eyes were about to close, she caught a fleeting glimpse of a hazy figure swimming towards her.
