Chapter SixLavela was hesitant. She wondered if she should run to fetch somebody to rescue the Duke from his predicament. She was, however, afraid that, while she was gone, he would be already married. If only she could reach her father, she felt sure that he would think of something that she could do. Even while she hesitated, Jocelyn Moor shouted at the Parson, “Get on with it and the quicker the better!” The Parson opened his Prayer Book and Lavela knew that there was no longer any time left.
