I glanced at Caleb and my stomach churned harder. I’d thought this was a perfect afternoon, but it had just been an escape from my reality. I didn’t have time to date because I had a sick mom to take care of. I couldn’t have lunch downtown because then I’d be too far away if something bad happened. And worst of all, I had no business pursuing the alpha’s sister. If she knew I was a half-breed, there was no way I’d have even gotten her in this truck. No one wanted to be paired with a half-human.
