About a week later, I finally understood what Randy meant by his last words.
An old unsolved case was brought back into the public eye. The case mentioned in the news was the one from when I was eight years old.
I clicked on the video. The face that appeared on the screen belonged to Randy's uncle.
In the video, he was wearing a hospital gown. Tears filled his eyes as he described what happened back then. He kept apologizing to me and to the old woman who had died by his hands.
"I know it's too late to apologize now, but I still want to say I'm sorry..."
After saying that, he bowed deeply.
