Chapter SeventeenAbout forty-five minutes after she left the cabin, Jean reached into her purse for her cell phone and discovered that she'd left it at the cabin. In her mind's eye she saw it immediately, lying on the coffee table where she'd accidentally left it in her mad dash to get away before Rico woke up. She hated to be without the phone; it was almost like an appendage, but she couldn't risk going back for it. Rico was probably awake by now and if not, she would undoubtedly wake him up if she tried to sneak into the cabin. She drove on.
