Cheryl's POV When I pushed open the office door, Eric’s eyes met mine almost instantly. The pain in his gaze pierced me like a sharp knife, and I felt dizzy, unable to meet his stare. I instinctively hid behind Zack, but this only seemed to provoke Eric. He stood up abruptly, his gaze locking onto the hand I was holding with Zack. I quickly let go of Zack's hand and whispered to Edith, "Could you give us siblings a moment of privacy?" Edith, sensing the tension, hurriedly gathered her things and left the room in a rush.
