Chapter 4

But as we neared the pack's territory, I saw something that made my heart stop. A group of rogue werewolves were approaching, their eyes locked on us with a predatory gleam. Elias tensed beside me, his hand reaching for his sword. "Get behind me," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "We'll fight them off together." I didn't argue, quickly moving to stand behind Elias as he faced down the group of rogue werewolves, with his eyes blazing with fury and wild with desperation. Elias sensed the danger before I could even speak. He transformed into his wolf form, his muscles bulging and his fur bristling with fury. I cowered behind him, my heart racing with fear as the rogue wolves charged towards us. Elias snarled and lunged at the first one, his teeth sinking into its flesh. But there were too many of them, and they kept coming. They were a formidable sight, snarling and snapping at us with bared teeth and glowing eyes. I could feel my own wolf stirring inside me, ready to fight. Elias charged forward, his sword flashing in the moonlight as he engaged the first rogue. I watched in awe as he moved with a fluid grace, his muscles rippling under his skin as he fought. It was like watching a predator in action, and I couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement and fear. I watched as Elias fought for our lives, his powerful jaws and claws tearing through the enemy. But even he couldn't keep up with their relentless attack. I knew we were going to die, and there was nothing I could do to help him. But the rogue werewolves were strong and skilled fighters, and soon Elias was surrounded by them. I tried to help, but I was quickly overwhelmed, my own fighting skills no match for theirs. One of the rogues knocked me to the ground, and I felt the breath knocked out of me as I hit the dirt. I looked up in time to see Elias fall to the ground, his sword clattering away from him. The rogues closed in on him, their teeth bared in triumph. I knew we were done for. But even with Elias's strength and my own determination, we were quickly being outnumbered. More and more rogues were emerging from the shadows, joining the fray with a savage intensity that was hard to match. Just when it seemed like all was lost, a howl rang out across the clearing. The rogues paused, their attention drawn towards the edge of the forest. And that was when I saw them - a group of werewolves from our pack, rushing towards us with fury in their eyes. They attacked the rogues with a ferocity that left me in awe. The battle was fierce, but with the help of the pack, we were able to defeat the rogues. With the combined strength of our pack, we were finally able to overcome the rogues. But the victory was bittersweet, as we suffered heavy losses in the battle. I watched in horror as one by one, my packmates fell, their bodies torn apart by the vicious attacks of the rogues. When the last rogue lay still on the ground, Elias turned to me, his expression grave. "We have to get out of here," he said, his voice heavy with sorrow. "Before more of them come." I nodded numbly, still in shock from the violence that had just taken place. As the dust settled, I looked at Elias with newfound respect. He had fought bravely, but it was the pack that had saved us. Together, we made our way back to our pack's territory, our hearts heavy with the knowledge that we had lost so many of our own. "Thank you for intervening, Elias. You have just saved my life yet again." As the pack began to settle down, Elias turned to me and whispered urgently in my ears. "We need to talk," he said, his voice serious. I followed him outside, my heart racing. I had a feeling I knew what was coming, and I wasn't sure I was ready to face it. "Eli, I..." I started, but he held up a hand to stop me. "Nae, I know we've been through a lot together," he said, his voice gentle. "And I know that we both have scars that may never fully heal. But I can't deny the way I feel about you." I stared at him, my heart pounding in my chest. "What are you saying, Eli?" "I'm saying that I love you," he said, his eyes intense. "And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you be my mate, Nae?" I was stunned. I had never expected this, not after everything we had been through. But as I looked into Elias's eyes, I knew that I loved him too. And that maybe, just maybe, we could find a way to heal each other's wounds. "Yes," I said, tears streaming down my face. "Yes, Eli. I will be your mate." He smiled, and for the first time in a long time, I felt hope. Hope for a future where we could be happy, where we could heal together. And at the same time thankful cause I had found him. But despite the love and happiness that we shared, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. It was like there was a dark cloud hanging over us, threatening to unleash its fury at any moment. As we embraced, I knew that we were about to face our greatest challenge.
