CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Duncan reached into his pocket and drew out the twig of berries. Somehow, they hadn’t been crushed in all the excitement. “We need you to look over these berries and tell us if there’s anything unusual about them.” Eva took the berries and turned them over in her hands. “Do you suspect there’s something unusual about them?” “I ate one without throwing up,” I told her. Eva’s head shot up and she blinked at me. “Beg pardon?” Duncan nodded. “It’s true.
