Chapter 23 It was the middle of the night when Sean returned, pulled in, replaced Chip in their vivarium. His house was silent, and he was tipsy. He had a glass of water in the kitchen and went upstairs, blinking when he saw Dane stretched out on the bed, on top of the blankets. For a moment, Sean was half surprised to see him there—they spent most of their nights apart—then he noticed Dane hadn’t gotten undressed. The bedside lamp on Dane’s side was on, the rest of the room dark. Sean went to his side and turned the lamp on, debating whether to wake Dane or let him sleep on as he undressed.
