Chapter 14: Reinforcements

We were struggling to get to the cabin with an injured Iker. His wounds were not healing, and blood was ouching out everywhere. He is not going to make it if we do not stop the bleeding June mind linked me concerned for her daughter’s mate life. We stop to assess the injuries. “Just leave me” Iker softly whispered the life slowly leaving his eyes. “Sorry honey there is no way we are leaving you behind. You need to keep your eyes open.” I said as we continued to try and stop the bleeding. I ripped pieces of my shirt of to try and make tourniquets to try and stop as much of the bleeding as possible. When we stopped some of the bleeding we decided to continue towards the cabin. We were almost there when June body became stiff. I sniffed the air and sensed the same wolves she was sensing. June was getting ready to shift. June relax, they are here to help. I just finished linking her when 4 wolves in wolf form and 2 wolves in human form appeared behind the bushes. We place Iker against a tree, and I run to greet my big brother. “Thank you for coming.” I say as I put my hands around his neck. His warriors shift and start to carry Iker towards the cabin. “June, go with him and make sure he is ok until Elaine can get here.” I instructed stepping away from my brother. “How did you get here so fast?” I asked him as I only phoned him about an hour ago and his pack was located at least three hours south. “Advantages of being mated to a light witch” my nephew answered as he stepped closer to greet me. “I am so grateful, thank you.” I say as I embrace him into a hug. “What happened, you did not give me much information when you called.” Greg asked. “Rose challenged Grant for the Alpha title.” I say as we make our way to the small cabin. “Wait, why did she challenge Grant, did you not say her mate would become Alpha.” Greg looked at me confused. “Let’s just say the title of Luna, is not what my daughter is after.” I said looking at him. He loved my little girl like his own and she would spend spring breaks during high school with him and his family. He only shaking his head as he knows exactly how strong minded and free willed my Rose is. “Where is Rose now?” my nephew asked. “In a coma, she was poisoned right before the challenge, which was Grant’s….” Before I can continue my brother and nephew release loud growls. “She was what?” my brother screamed. “Calm down, Greg. We need to be level-headed and take this pack back from the true enemy, the beta’s” I said looking at him with angry eyes. “They already have Burke and Derek captured and if the pain running through my veins is anything to go by, they definitely drugged them with wolfbane,” We step into the cabin where there is already a table with a map of our territory on a table in the middle of the small living room. “What’s your plan, little sis” I hear my brothers voice and all eyes are on me.

Iker

After Grant and his goons beaten me half to death and threw me in one of the cells they left, leaving only one guard in charge of myself and the Luna. Luna was able to escape from her cell using only a hair pin. I never seen her as a lock picker, but she was quick and surprised the guard knocking him out with a brick. She got me out of the cell and when we got outside June was there, they tried to stop some of the bleeding of my wounds but there was still blood everywhere. Now I am laying on a bed in a cabin I did not even know was on the pack grounds. It is becoming very hard to keep my eyes open and all I can do is to think of my sweet Elaine. I move my hand down to my pants and feel the little box that is still secure in my pocket. I wanted to propose, I was just waiting for the right moment, now I might die before telling her truly how incredible she is. I take the little box from my pocket, and I try to get June’s attention. “I n-n-need you.” Before I continue, she takes my hand and look at me with tears running down her cheeks. “No, Iker you are not leaving my little girl all alone in this world. It will break her I need you to keep fighting.” She whispered to me closing my hand around the box. She sat by my side and tried to keep me talking the whole time. There was a knock at the door, Luna Lily and a younger female entered the room. I must say I was hoping that it would be my mate, I knew my time was running out and that I only had a few more breaths left but at least I could tell her I loved her. “Iker this is my nephew’s mate, Juniper, she thinks she may be able to help you.” They step closer to the bed as June moves out of the way. “Hi Iker” Juniper greeted. “I do not have healing abilities, but I can extract the dark magic they used from your veins, that will help your body fight the wolfbane faster which means we can get your wolf to heal you faster,” she explains, and I nod my head. “I must also tell you that this will hurt, the dark magic is running strong through your veins, I felt it when I entered the cabin. I need you to try and stay awake for as long as possible.” She took my hand, and a few warriors came closer to push me down on the bed. June gives me a piece of cloth to bite down on. She then starts reciting words in some language I did not understand and soon my body felt like it was on fire. I tried to bite down on the cloth and not to scream but the pain was extreme, and it felt like I was combusting from the inside. I let out a massive scream and tried to break lose from the witch but the wolf holding me in place just pushed me deeper into the bed, just before I lost consciousness the most wonderful scent filled my lungs. “Elaine” was the last word I spoke before the darkness took me away.
