Chapter 5: The girl talk

Rose

As the men exited the room, all I could do was stand there, tears of anger burned my eyes. This is not how I expected today to go, of cause I expected my dad not to make me the alpha of the pack. I expected him to not accept the challenge I made that is why I asked Stephan to bring one of the elders from the council to force him to let me do the challenge. I expected it to be Grant but then two proposals. One from the asshole I was supposed to fight and then one from one of my best friends. And let’s not forget my mate is probably on his way to confess his love as well. What is it with men thinking that their love confessions would have any women begging on their knees? I hate their egos. Although I longed for my mate’s unconditional love and support, I did not need a man to define my leader abilities. I just needed my father to open his mind to the idea, and I needed the pack laws to be revised. “I think we need some tea” my mother’s voice was the first to break the silence. “I really do not need TEA now mother” after saying the words I realised it may have had more hatred than I meant for it to have. “Yes, you are right, we definitely do not need tea” Aunt June looked at me with that look she always did when we were being rude. “I need some wine” Elaine relaxed back in her chair rubbing the bridge of her nose. “What just happened, Rose?” she stared deep into my soul wanting answers. “Apparently I have more than one person trying to save the day today” I answered her remembering her confession through our mind link. “Oh, and Elaine I also know who my mate is, I have known for 12 years” I looked at my friend, did she really think that I would not know. “Don’t we all” my mother’s voice was cold. “Are we all sure about our suspicions? It’s not like they have seen each other since Rose turned 18. They both made sure of it.” Aunt June chipped in. I took a deep breath. It was time to face the true. “He is my mate; my wolf is going crazy his scent is all over his stuff and I felt the pull for a long time. It started just after his 18th birthday and it only grew stronger every day, that is why I left before my 18th birthday, I was not sure I would be able to resist the bound.” I confessed. “But we all know that just giving into that would have not gotten me the respect I so desperately craved from my father.” All I ever wanted was to be the Alpha of this pack and unlike Grant’s statement I have put in the work the last 12 year, training, learning and improving to be the best Alpha this pack has ever seen. I looked at my mother knowing she is the only one that can help me now. “What do I do?” A small smile formed on her “Oh honey, you know what you need to do, so just do it. Everyone in this room believes in you.” Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Grant

After being dismissed by the Luna, myself, my father, and mother moved to my father’s office. All though my father practical dragged me there I would have preferred to beat up that snotty young Alpha. “Well, this is just one big mess” my mom was furious with my father. He just stared at her almost challenging her to continue, this just angered her more, she picked up an ashtray and throw it at his head. “Speak dammit, I would like to know since when do we keep secrets between us. Why did you think it was a good idea not to discuss this with me, I could have helped you plan this better” My dad ducked just in time and the ashtray went straight through the glass shattering the whole window. “Dammit woman, now I need to have that replaced. I did not expect Burke to announce it now. I also thought there would be a ranked meeting before he made a pack announcement”. My father took out some glasses and pored each of us some brandy he had in his bottom drawer. After taking a glass I took a seat on the couch sipping my drink. “Well maybe she will consider the proposal.” My mom face turned red as it did when she was beyond angry. “You i***t, no women, yet alone Rose Williams, would have accepted that proposal. You men really do not know what women what. She doesn’t want a alpha she wants to be the Alpha and she is serious about the challenge, which is an idiotic idea.” My mother continued to pace up and down. “Well then we go through with the challenge, it is not like I am afraid of fighting a girl”. That is when my mom threw the glass in her hand at me. “You stupid, stupid little boy. Do you know what Rose has done the last 12 years? You might think that you stayed behind and trained. You underestimate your opponent and that is what will cost you this challenge. And let’s be honest if you do manage to win and kill her, you will be challenged immediately by at least two stronger alpha wolves which will kill you to revenge their loss, and honey you will lose.” She stared at me but all I could do was smirk because in her eyes I could see she already have a plan. “So, honey, please share what it is you need us to do” my father moved to my mother, their closeness seem to calm each other and enrage each other at the same time, and I sometimes wished I had that with a mate. “Grant needs to win the challenge, but he cannot kill Rose and he underestimate her, what you boys do not know is that Rose have been training with some of the best werewolf alphas and she even has a werebear beta that trained her. She is fast and agile and for her size she is strong. There have been rumours that her wolf is the size of a normal Alpha and as strong as well. We need to weaken her; you will need to win and give her no other way out that having her agree that you can mark her after the fight. She needs to tap out Grant.” My mother stared at me. “Ok how do we do that? I can’t see any scenario where she will tap out mother, she would rather die.” I asked my mother really interested in her plan. “We need to give her a small dose of aconite, just enough to weaken her slightly and then before the challenge you state that should she tap out she agrees that you can claim her as your Luna. Make sure to claim her at exactly the right time, you will know when that is.” “Ok that is all good on paper but how do we poison her with aconite?” my father was way to open to this plan of my mom. “Never mind that it is already taken care of” my mother answered him. “And what if they find out not only will the Alpha title be taken from me, but I would also be sentenced to death for marking a female forcefully.” “Well honey you can always stand aside and let Rose have the title.” My mother knew very well that that will not be happening.

Iker

After Elaine mind linked me to try and get hold of her brother, I have not had any luck. His cell phone keeps going to voicemail. I decided to ask the Gamma if he knew where his son was. Gamma Daniel was standing outside speaking to one of the omegas. “Iker how can I help you today?” he asked me as I came closer. “I was wondering if you heard anything from Hunter. Elaine asked me to find out where he was? She sounded concerned. I can also not reach him on his phone.” The gamma sighed. “His bike broke down and he shifted to run home, that is probably why you could not reach him on his cell phone. I believe he should be here in the next 20 min. “Good news, I will make sure Elaine knows” I tried to get a mind link through to my mate, but she was blocking me which was weird. I decided to go and check on her. I moved into the Alpha house, I could see Alpha Burke and Stephan drinking at the gentlemen lounge. He probably was thrilled that an Alpha of Stephan calibre will leave his pack to lead his next to his daughter. It is a shame he could not realise his daughter’s potential. While with Rose the last week I have seen how dedicated she was not only in pack matters but also in making sure she was trained as well as any male alpha heir. I admired her from a far and would much rather have her be my Alpha than Grant. He couldn’t never lead this pack, he is not even worth the Beta title, maybe the Gamma but I met a few Gammas on my military tours that will beat his ass any day. As I walked to the conference room, we all previously occupied, I almost bumped into one of the kitchen omegas. “I am so sorry; can I help you with that?” I asked as she tried to steady the tray with drinks in her hand. Lemon and cucumber water, this was the Luna’s favourite drink, the Alpha must have sent it to the conference room when he realised that he really screwed up. “No, it was my fault, I was in such a hurry to deliver this to the Luna that I was not looking where I was going.” she did not make eye contact, which was weird, I was not ranked, she had no reason to submit to me, unless she wanted to go unnoticed. “Let me take it, I am on my way there now. I will gladly deliver it.” I offered. “Oh no, the Alpha insisted…” she tried to resist but I already took the tray from her. “It is no problem; I will make sure they receive it.” I said as I already continued down the hall to the conference room. I knocked and could hear silence in the room. I decided to knock again, and this time Gamma June spoke. “Come in.” I entered and brought the tray to the table. “Iker, that is so thoughtful of you” Elaine came to my side. I gave her a small smile; she always had a way to make me speechless. “Did you manage to get a hold of my brother.” I just shook my head, and I could feel the frustration through our bond. “It doesn’t matter, Elaine. I am going through with the challenge, and I think the quicker we get it over with the better. Mom, please let everyone know and let them meet us on the training grounds.” Rose walked closer to the tray on the table and pored herself some of the water. “Are you sure, honey? Once we start this there is no going back”. Rose just smiled to her mother. The Luna sent a massive mind link to the whole pack and told everyone that the challenge for the Alpha title will take place in 5min on the warrior training grounds.
