Chapter 6: Till death do us part

Grant

When I got to the training grounds with my parents there was already a big crowd. Alpha Burke and Elder Brachman stood at the sparing circle that was in the middle of the training grounds. I knew every part of this training grounds, each bump each stone. I made my way to the circle, I decided to stretch while waiting for the princess to arrive. When Rose arrived, she moved to the other side of the circle where Alpha Stephan was standing. He was pissed, and it looked like they were having a lover quarrel. I can’t believe he would give up his pack for her. That is a sign of a weak Alpha and we do not need a weak Alpha. “Maybe she is just that special.” Loki finally decided to give his 10 cents on the matter. “She does not even know her place. Women were not meant to rule packs they were meant to be Luna, supporting their Alphas making sure the packhouse is runed correctly. Clean and cook and then occasionally look like the perfect trophy wife for her alpha. She needs to be a mother and carry pups. Not attend meetings and decide over the future of the pack. No, a woman’s place is in the house not in the office” I reminded him. After stretching I moved to the middle of the circle. I was getting impatience with this situation; it was time for the Alpha’s precious flower to be learned a lesson. I see her undress and I must say her body is a work of wonder. I have never seen her like this. Every inch of her body was made to worship. She has curves in all the right places. You can see she has worked out while she was away. She is definitely ripped but not in a weird wanna be female body builder on the contrary it makes her more desirable. She takes up her natural wavy hair in a high ponytail revealing her neck, where my mark will be placed very soon. I see Alpha boy’s eyes turning black for a second. What the f**k my wolf growls in my head. Just be patient Loki, she will be ours soon I tried to calm him. I have heard those words before. And with that he retreats into my mind.

Stephen

As she approached the sparing circle with her mother and best friend. She is beautiful, not just the way her hips sway and her dark brown hair shines red in the sun, but the ways she carries herself. Her confidence is one thing that attracted me to her from the moment I met her. I must say I have always liked my women classy, sassy, and sexy and she ticked all the boxes. I had fought in the past of asking her to be my chosen mate and rule the pack with me, not as a Luna, she was always meant to be more than just a Luna, but as my equal. I wonder why her father cannot see what even my father could see the first time she met him. She was smart, I have sought her counsel many times. She is wise beyond her year. I decided to move closer to her, maybe I can still change her mind. “So, I guess you are going through with this?” She looked up at me as she pulled down her leggings to reveal short hot pants. I kept the growl inside my chest not wanting to make her uncomfortable. “You know I have to do this, Stephen. This was my goal from the start.” I could hear the irritation in her voice. Dammit, I should know better than to get on her bad side. I once did, let’s just say the next time we faced off in the sparing circle, she did not play fair, and I had an ice pack were no man want one. “I am not trying to be difficult Rose, but there are other ways to get what you want.” I plied with her. “Are you preferring to your proposal?” This time she did not look at me. She was pissed. “Come on, that is not even an option Stephen.” She was putting her hair in a high pony tail the way she always does when she means business. “Stephen, I do love you but not the way you want me to, my heart has always belonged to someone else. I do not want this to cost us our friendship or you your pack, you are a wonderful guy and Alpha. I hope your first born is a daughter because she will have a dad that will change the world for her, but I will never be her mother.” With those word she takes of her shirt to stand in only a cropped exercise top, and I could not help my eyes turning black but just for a second. When our eyes meet again I could only nod. She smiled and held her hand out to me, I took it, and we shook on our ever-standing friendship. “Break his legs first, he has a weak knee.” I tell her, he may have not notice it, but I have been keeping an eye and you could see his left knee was just slightly weaker as his right. “That was the plan, when he and Hunter got drunk one night just after their 18th birthdays and for some reason they got into some kind of fight, Hunter took a big piece of his knee out.” Hunter was the Gamma’s son, she has always talk kindly and lovingly about him. With that she turned around and moved to the middle of the circle. Grant moved closer and I saw the smirk on his face. Oh boy is he in for a surprise. I heard my wolf say in the back of mind.

Rose

I move to the middle of the circle and looked at my father, he refuses to look at me staring at my mother. “You all know the rules, this is a fight to the death. You will not be allowed to get assistance from any outside source. Good luck and may the Moon Goddess bless her champion” the elder said. I nod at him. “Before we start.” Grant opened his mouth “I would like to put an alternative on the table, as I know Rose is precious to our pack, should she want to tap out” “Which I will not do” I interrupted him. He looks at me with a death stare. “If she chose to tap out, she becomes my mate, and I can mark her immediately”. The elder looks at me. “Fine, but I will be so kind to offer you a deal as well, if you tap out, you resign as beta.” He looks insulted and then smirks. “Fine deal.” He steps back and so do I. “Ok, then let’s get started we do not have all day” my father said, he looks relieved as if Grant did him a favour. Ok Sif, her we go are you ready? but there is no reply from my wolf. Sif, I need you now and again no answer. Grant starts moving around me, as if he is trying to decide which side would be my weakest. Rose, something is wrong I heard Sif but barely she sounds weak. Sif what is wrong? Sif? Just then Grant leaps at me, luckily, I am still faster than he is, and he misses me. “Good Rose, keep it liquid” I could hear Stephen from the side-lines. He turns around and looks pissed, great getting him angry will distract him. He has always been a hot head that gives in to his primal side when he gets angry that is what made Hunter better than him in a fight. Why the hell am I thinking about Hunter now, focus Rose, I tell myself. He comes closer again and throws a left punch, I duck and goes down to sweep kick his legs right from under him. He did not expect that. He gets up and looks at me with pure hatred. “You will pay for that.” I could not help but smirk. Rose, you need to stop Sif sounds even weaker that before that sentence was barely a whisper. Distracted by my internal battle Grant lands a hard punch right in the middle of my abdominal and that s**t hurt. I can’t let him land to many of these. I will not recover; I need to concentrate. I decide to move quickly and try and land a few punches before he got too confident. I decide to go with a right hook to the face and a left to his chest. He blocks the right, but I was able to land the left and decide to add a hard kick to his knee, I knew I was not going to win this fight fairly. He growls and shifts as he moved backward to get space between us. s**t Sif we need to shift and do it now. I cannot beat him in human form. Sif come on. My wolf is not responding, that is when I started feeling a burning feeling down my spine. Loki leaps for my neck, I was fast enough to dodge him, but only barely. The burning feeling is turning into extreme pain. Loki starts staking me and it is becoming harder to move my limbs. Loki sees his opportunity and bites into my right calf. The burning combined with the pain of the bite brings me down to my knees. I place my hands on the ground in front of me. My brain is feeling foggy, what the hell is going on. With that I feel Loki’s teeth biting into my shoulder. My vision starts to turn black; I try to speak but nothing is coming out. The burning feeling has taken over my whole body. I try to get back up but nothing. I fall into the sand. I could hear Elaine and Stephen shouting desperately but I cannot figure out what they are saying. The last thing I remember was Grant on top of me, whispering in my ear. “Oh Rose, finally you will be mine.” And then everything goes black.

Elaine

Iker and I move closer to Stephen when Rose moves to the middle. “She will be fine right?” I ask to no one in particular. I feel Iker hand on my back making calming circles. “She really is well trained.” He answered me. “I have seen her train with Stephen, she will give him one hell of a fight” I look at Stephen for some kind of reassurance. He nods his head and give me a confident smile. “Ok” I try to reach my brother via mind-link, but he must still be too far. “Can he do that?” Iker voice brings me back to our current situation. “Yes” Stephen answered. “They can both have conditions as he just proposed, it is not usually the case, but this is a special situation.” I mind-link my mate. What did I miss, I was trying to reach Hunter? He pulls me into him, like he always does when delivering news, he knows will upset me. He said that should Rose tap out he will claim her as his. “No” I gasp, feeling tears build up in my eyes. “Don’t worry little one, he will need to put up a fight.” He whispers into my ear. I brace myself as they start moving in the circle. Like always Grant takes the first punch before knowing his partner. Hunter always told me Grant was to hot headed to fight with tactics, this made him a weak opponent but sometimes it makes him dangerous as he quickly gives into Loki his beast. I watch as Rose lands a sweep kick. “Go Rose!” I shouted from the side-line. “Something is wrong” Stephen says suddenly. “What do you mean?” I ask looking at him then I hear bones c***k, I turn back to the fight and see Rose holding her stomach. Iker and Stephen exchange a look. “Did Rose drink anything before you came her?” I look at my mate there is worry on his face. “Why do you ask?” Stephen is watching Rose with worry in his eyes. “What are you not telling me” I asked again. Just then I hear clothes shredding I look to see that Grant has released Loki. “Come on Rose, shift” Stephen says to himself. I watch in horror as my friend remains standing in human form. Again, I try my brother and this time I get through. Where the f**k are you? I shout through our mind-link. I just crossed the border, what is going on the guards are talking about an Alpha challenge. My brother voice echoed in my head. You need to get to the warrior training grounds now; it is Rose she challenged Grant for the Alpha title. I cut the mind-link out. Iker and Stephen are both shouting now. “Shift Rose, you need to shift now” I watch in horror as Loki takes out a piece of her calf and she drops down to her knees. “Elaine did Rose drink or eat anything before coming here” Stephen is now shouting at me, but I am in shock watching the scene unfold in front of us.” ELAINE” Stephen starts shouting and is shaking me by the shoulders. Iker lets out a large growl, but I immediately moved into him to calm him. “No, yes. I am not sure” I look at my best friend, weak and vulnerable. Suddenly I see blood pouring from her shoulder. “Rose, you need to fight, get up and fight.” I shout but she is not moving. Suddenly a massive growl comes from the crowed. Just as Grant is bending down over Rose, I hear the words I have been waiting for, for what feels to be a lifetime.
