Chapter 15: At last

Hunter

GET BACK Rose voice echoed through my mind. “Mate” Thor repeatedly purred. We step a few steps back and suddenly a chair comes flying out the window. “Are they planning on jumping?” Andrew asked his eyes bewildered. Before I can react to the idea of them jumping my sister and mate comes flying out the window. In terror I watch as they shift midway through the jump and both landing on their feet. They shift back to their human form and in front of me stands a goddess. My eyes fixed on her she is breath-taking every curve, every inch of her sculptured into the perfect woman. “Shirt” I hear her voice commanding, but I am to taken back by her beauty that I do not react. “Hunter, give me your shirt.” She asks again, but still, I can only stand there. You i***t let me have control. Thor’s fighting me for control over my own body. I see Andrew starting to take off his shirt as he steps closer to Rose. I let out a growl loud enough to shake the earth we are standing on. Rose moves in quickly and places her lips over mine. The sparks of our mate bond relaxing me instantly. My hands wrap around her waist lifting her close to me and she wraps her legs around my body. She pulls back and whisper softly into my ear “I’m yours, calm down.” I take a few deep breaths intoxicating myself in her scent. “Can I please have your shirt; I don’t want to walk around naked” she asks softly. Her beautiful yellow eyes shining in the moonlight. I put her down and take of my shirt. She puts it on, and we find some sweatpants stuffed in a tree.

Elaine continues to pace as she waits for us to get dressed silently sobbing. I put my arms around her to try and bring her some comfort. “What do you need me to do?” I ask her softly. She pulls away and wipe the tears of her cheek. “Can you describe his injuries for me?” she asks. “Sis, I am not sure, to be honest there was blood everywhere and the wounds looked quite deep, he was also very confused, I definitely think he was injected with wolfbane.” She continues to pace. “Ok so he will need blood, if he hasn’t bled out yet” tears streaming down her cheeks. “Elaine you would have felt if he was dead.” Rose tries to comfort her. “You still feel him right.” Elaine just nodding at us. “It won’t matter soon, I can’t get back into the hospital to get some blood.” Tears streaming down her cheek’s ones again. “I can donate” Rose chips in “I am O negative a universal donor.” I feel the anger running through my body. “There is no way, you just woke up after losing an enormous amount of blood yourself.” My eyes flickering between green and blue. Thor on the surface. Rose taking my hand in hers. “I am fine now; I will be okay.” She purrs in my ear, turning Thor into a lovesick pup. “It doesn’t matter we have blood if I do not have my medicine bag.” She mumbles under her breath. “We can get the bag.” Rose says as she looks at me, I nod and let her continue. “You and Andrew can head to the cabin. We can meet you there.” Elaine stops as she thinks for a minute. “It is in the spare room, make sure you take the blue one, it has been recently stocked and I believe it has everything I will need. Make sure it is the blue one Rose.” Rose nod. We head out to our different destinations; I tell Andrew to be careful and we shake hands. Rose and I head to Elaine and Iker house while Andrew and Elaine shift and head into the forest towards the cabin.

Rose

We approach Elaine house, only one light is on. “Something feels off.” Hunter says and we stay put for a few seconds. “We can’t just sit here and wait, Hunter. We need to move.” I say eager to get what we came for and head to the cabin. “Rose, I am telling you something is off, Grant’s goons by now knows your mom and Iker is missing, they know that Elaine will do everything to save her mate’s life. This could be a trap.” I looked at him impatiently. I can’t wait any longer knowing Iker’s life is hanging in the balance. I stand up to make my move when Hunter pulls me down and pins me to the floor. His arms on either side of my face. His beautiful eyes staring at me with so much love. In this moment I have the urge to tell him I love him. I have always loved him and all these years I have longed for him. I just needed to find myself first before I could find my mate. I open my mouth to say the words and he crushes his lips into mine, giving me a passionate kiss. He comes up and I see tears in his eyes. “Don’t tell me you missed me.” He says a small amount of anger in his voice. “I did truly miss you every day Hunter.” I whimper. “Yet you never called.” He speaks and a lone tear falls onto his cheek. “I am here now, and I am not going anywhere.” I say as I wipe away his tear with my thumb. Suddenly his eyes changes to blue and I know I am now dealing with Thor. “Mate, do not promise me tonight without tomorrow.” I look deep in his eyes; he and Hunter are complete opposites but have always used it to their advantage. I let Sif come forward to deal with her big bad wolf mate. “I promise today, tomorrow and everyday after that.” All these years we’ve been close but the last 12 years we have been apart has really placed a few scars on their heart. I sigh knowing that he has 4383 reasons to hold his heart at a safe distance from me. I decide to take back control and kiss him again putting into it all the love I have for them. I know that no words I speak now will ease the tension in their souls, but I am hoping that I can show Hunter just how much I love him. My lungs begin to burn, and I break away for some air. We stare in each other’s eyes as if the world has come to a halt. He is the first one to break the silence. “I have been waiting and Hunter have been understanding but now we need a little bit more Mate.” His eyes changes back from blue to green. “We have been patient, but we also started to lose hope.” He gets up and turn to the house again. “I push myself up on my elbows. “Please, Hunter. I know I have put you through hell the last few years and it was not fair, but I belong to you, I have always belonged to you. Don’t lose faith in me.” He continues to stare at the house. I decide to stand up and close the distance between us. Putting my arms around his waist and resting my head on his back. “I know that for the last 12 years I have paid more attention to the things I needed. I tested your trust.” I breath in his scent as I try to find the right words to say. “Am I hard to love, Rose?” The question caught me off guard. We should have never left them, now they think we do not love them my wolf snarl at me. “No Hunter, I wished I could be more like you. You have given me 4383 second changes and I never want to take you for granted again. I know I don’t make it easy. I am the one who is hard to love.” We stand there in silence when his scent hits us. Grant Hunter mind links and shows me to keep quiet and down. Grant approaches the house as a few young warriors exits. “They are not here; we have searched this place form head to toe.” Grant lets out a growl and turn to one of the warriors kicking him straight in the stomach. “How could you let one little wolf and a heavily drugged and injured warrior escape, it was not hard, and you supposed to be the best of the best.” Grant spits in the wolf’s face. “Find them” he commands weakly, “Even if you need to search every inch of this territory.” All the young wolves scatter out in groups before facing Grant’s fiery. We wait patiently as we observe Grant’s actions. We need to move I link Hunter. He only nods and give me a sign to follow him. He continues to observe Grant as we try to creep past him. Suddenly a gush of wind hits us from behind and Grant stiffens. He caught our scents we need to move Hunter links and we pick up our speed trying to put as much distance between us and Grant. Grant starts looking around searching for us but before he catches our trail his phone rings. After a few seconds he heads in the opposite direction. We wait a few more minutes to make sure the coast is clear before we make our way to the house. We use the back door to try and not draw attention to ourselves. When we enter the house the sight before us is almost unbelievable. Everything has been destroyed. We make our way to the guest bedroom which also serves as Elaine’s office. I see the doctor bag on the floor, but everything has been thrown out on the floor. “Get as many supplies as you can. We need to hurry; he will come back to look for us.” Hunter helps me gather as much of the supplies we can find of the floor and place them back into the bag. We grab a few sets of clothes and some water bottles and protein bars Elaine had in her pantry and head out to the cabin.
