  I didn't stop.   Not even when her laughter followed me like a shadow, echoing down the hallway like a ghost I couldn't shake off.   I gritted my teeth, gripping my bag tighter as I turned the corner. My boots thudded against the floor, fast and angry.   Stay out of the past.   That's what she meant, right? That smug, whispered threat.   She didn't have to say Liliana's name. She didn't need to. I heard it in every poisoned word. Every look. Every smile that didn't reach her eyes.   She knew.
