"Hello Kitten, going somewhere?" A deep baritone voice muttered, the voice shimmering with excitement and tension.
Amara felt the hair on her back stand, goosebumps forming all over her skin, chills went down her spine, keeping her rotted to the spot she was standing. That voice, that name, only one man called her that.
Only one person could make the hair on her body stand and cause chills to form within her soul, she turned around, her eyes filled with horror.
"Didn't think you could leave without my notice right?" Damien remarked, smirking.
Amara felt her throat burn, the anxiety climbing up her chest. How had she failed to pay attention to that voice? That look, the ruthless, dangerous and soul ripping look being given by him.
"You..." She muttered, gasping alongside talking. It felt as though all the air had been stolen from her lungs and there was nothing left for her to breathe in or out.
Damien moved closer, his left hand tucked into his pants. The dim light on the rooftop made him look more dangerous, the cold yet excited and chilling look in his eyes said everything that Amara needed to hear.
"I can never make a mistake, not recognizing you. Even though it is in a crowd of people, you should never have come here, Kitten." Damien remarked, his eyes roaming through her body.
The black dinner gown she was wearing hugged her body in all the right places. It hugged her curves, pushed her bust out and also outlined her legs, giving them a sexy look.
The stare from Damien was nothing close to ordinary, it was intense, throwing Amara into a sweaty and anxious mess. She gulped, stepping back from him.
This man, this man has ruthlessly sent his men after her for months, seeking to find her, dead or alive even though his father had let her off the hook. He still desperately went after her.
He had chased her consistently for the past six months without giving up, why was she so stupid to have scolded this man earlier, staring at him now, the warning bells in her head went off.
"What do you want from me?" Amara asked, still stepping back, she moved back, hoping to go far away from him, enough to run and escape.
Damien sighed, he stepped closer, his face coming into the light. "Revenge" he muttered, a smile on his face.
Unlike most people thought, Damien had an expressive face and eyes which he had learnt to mask over time and let out to the public, to avoid his thoughts being known.
"Revenge?.." Amara asked, a bit puzzled. How was he getting revenge from her? She did absolutely nothing to him, so why?
"If it is because of my father's betrayal, haven't you already gotten revenge? All his assets are under your name and he is missing, nowhere to be found, what else do you need?" Amara asked, sadness surfacing.
Damien chuckled, his expression getting darker than before. "You call that revenge?" Damien asked, his lips dipping significantly.
Amara rolled her eyes, wasn't that what she just said? Did he have a problem hearing and understanding her?
"You should stop walking." Damien remarked, taking notice of the railing. Any more movements and Amara would fall from the top of this building.
It was not something bad, she would break a leg or break both legs but he didn't want a woman with broken legs, he wanted her complete and whole.
"As if I would listen to anything you have to say." Amara remarked, refusing to stop.
"Go ahead. Do your worst." Amara dared, searching frantically for a way to escape without getting into trouble or being caught by one of his numerous guards.
Damien stepped closer, walking faster to stop her from taking one more step, this move of his, sent Amara into panic, she instinctively moved back, causing her to slip.
"Ah!" She screamed, her eyes filled with fears, she flailed her hand trying to grab onto something bad to stop herself from falling down.
Damien grabbed onto her hand just in time to stop her from falling down, he pulled her up,spinning her around, causing her back to be pressed against his chest.
His hand rested on her neck, as he choked her lightly, his anger getting the better of him.
"Let me go" Amara struggled but Damien paid deaf ears to her complaints.
"It would be better if you keep your mouth shut, or else I'll be forced to shut you up myself." Damien threatened, causing Amara to snap her mouth shot.
She pressed her lips together, unhappy with the fact that she had been caught. She tried to fight off his hold on her neck but his grip only got tightly the more she fought.
"You should never have come here, you should have continued running. You should have stayed far away from New York, maybe then your life would have been spared."
"But now, you are in my territory, my city, my phone and I completely own you now. There is no escape for you, you can not escape from me now." Damien remarked, a flint appearing in his eyes.
Amara could feel the cries hanging in her throat, the tears stinging behind her eye lids, she could not help but feel wronged.
"Why?" Amara asked.
"Why do you want me so much? What have I done to you?" She questioned, unable to point her to get on it.
Damien's expression turned even darker at her question. He knew she was not the one at fault, she was not the one to blame but he could not help himself.
She was the only one who he could take his revenge on, she would be forced to anyone for her father's sin even though she didn't want to.
"That is none of your business. You will pay for your father's sin and everything else." Damien muttered.
Pulling back from her, he hoisted her up and placed her on his shoulder. His presence here was no longer needed, he didn't host the charity gala, so he didn't need to be here.
