Episode 2

Yami: I didn't want anyone to find out that I have a power. If I get caught, I'll be killed.

Itsuki: (shock) huh?

Yami: So please, don't tell anyone about this. I need to go.

Itsuki: W-wait! Hey! C'mon, wait!

Yami: Stay away from me. I told you. I'm not your childhood friend. I'm a total stranger. Goodbye.

^ Powers? ^

Kurayami: Whoaa, You can see Vega, Deneb, and Altair really well.

Itsuki: Uhmm..

Kurayami: The Summer Triangle!

Itsuki: uhmm, next week is the field trip. You've never seen the ocean, have you, Kurayami?

Kurayami: Nope.

Itsuki: The field trip is to the ocean, so you must be looking forward to it.

Kurayami: Not particularly.

Teacher A: Yami is absent today? Well then, Itsuki!

Itsuki: Yes?

Teacher A: Sorry to bother you after school, but could you take this transfer form to Yami? She has to turn it in by tomorrow. From her address, it seems she live near the observatory. Please stop by after your club.

Itsuki: Yes.

Teacher A: Oh, right. Can you take the guide to next week's summer trip, too?

(Itsuki started searching Yami's house)

Itsuki: Are there really houses out this far past the observatory?

(Itsuki saw an armored vehicles and there was two girls inside on it)

Itsuki: What are Self-Defense Force armored vehicles doing here? Did something happen?

Itsuki: Huh!? The address she gave them was a lookout point!?

(Itsuki tried to go on the rooftop to see the view)

Itsuki: Well, is the lab is after her, it makes sense that she wouldn't give her real address. Ey? There's a village down there? Oh, right. It was supposed to be sunk, but the dam plan got scrapped. Now it's abandoned. Actually, If I were going to hide...

(Itsuki went to the village and jump into the gate and it's trespassing once he caught he will

be arrested.)

Itsuki: That voice... It's Yami!

Yami: (Singing) "Leaping to action in an emergency! She'll help people who are in trouble... (In trouble!) She'll save people who are gonna die... (Graaa!) A cat makes her dashing appearance, everybody loves he- "

(Itsuki see's Yami washing clothess)

Itsuki: Ummm... Yami.

Yami: (shock)

Itsuki: You're perkier than I thought you'd be, singing and everything.

Yami: And? What made you come all the way here?

Itsuki: Our teacher asked me to give you this transfer form. You need to turn it in by tomorrow.

Yami: I don't need that thing. The people who were supposed to die got saved. No reason for me to go to school anymore. In almost 10 years I'm staying at home always because too many reserchers are looking for me I don't know why so that Akari never let me study.

Itsuki: Who is Akari?

Yami: She is a friend of mine. She's older than me and she's the one adopted me. I even don't know who's my real parents is. But I really wanted to go to school.

Itsuki: If that's true, then isn't there still a reason to come to school?

Yami: Huh?

Itsuki: Come back starting tomorrow, Yami!

Yami: Just leave me alone already.

Itsuki: Yami, why did you save me?

Yami: That's obvious, isn't it? I can't let someone die if I think I can save them.

Itsuki: I'm the same way. If you get caught by the researcher, you'll be killed, right?

Yami: Yeah, because they are an enemy for me I am the person who saves people they have a King and kidnapped some girls to experiment and insert some chemical on their body to have a power to fight with me.

Itsuki: This isn't calculus or trigonometric functions we're talking about.

Itsuki: What's that voice? It's coming from that house.

Yami: Don't worry about it.

Itsuki: But it's a person, isn't it?

Yami: No.

Save! Me! Save! Me!

Itsuki: Then I'll just go to make sur---

(Itsuki was running to enter the house but Yami use her power to cut tress to stop him.)

Itsuki: Huh?

Yami: Leave! Leave!

(Itsuki was leaving on the village but...)

Itsuki: I forgot to show her the trip guide.

(Itsuki was walking back to Yami's place)

Itsuki: What's wrong with me? I keep getting rejected, but I can't help being interested in her. Is it because she looks like Kurayami? Or is it because I still think that she is Kurayami?

(When Itsuki came back he didn't see Yami's on the outside so he decided to enter on the house)

Itsuki: If she finds me, she'll definitely think I'm a creepy stalker. It's okay. I got rid of her.

(Itsuki was hearing Yami's voice on the other room and listen)

Yami: (To someone) I think I startled him a bit much, but if he's gonna be like that... well, we can't make friends with anyone. If I made friends with him... he'd b killed along with me if I got caught.

Itsuki: (Thinking) They'd kill me too?

Yami: (To someone) It's fine. I'm not really lonely or anything. Either way, we won't live long, so it's better not to make friends.

Itsuki: (Thinking) "Won't live long"? What's that supposed to mean? If they get caught, I guess.

Yami: Until then, we'll do the things nobody else can. Oops! Time for our pills. I'll go get some water.

Itsuki: (Thinking) Who could she have been talking to? Whoever it was, they didn't say a word. Was she talking to herself?

(Yami leave's the room to get some water while Itsuki entered the room and saw a lady laying on the bed but it's not moving)

Itsuki: What's... up with this girl? She's not moving a muscle. Is she even alive? She looks just like a corpse. Or is it just a well-crafted doll?

(Itsuki tried to touch Akari but Yami's came)

Yami: Akari is alive.

Itsuki: Huh? Sorry. I couldn't help but check things out.

Yami: The researcher kidnapped her 2 years ago when they found out the we're living together. Akari was a researcher experiment, but she ended up completely paralyzed. I tried to save her on the lab but the researcher caught us and entered some chemical on our body. But I fight them and leave. However, in exchange, she acquired a powerful ability.

Itsuki: A powerful ability? Is she the one making the forecasts?

Yami: Yes. Akari can't speak, but the fingers on her left hand can move a bit, so she tells me what she's thinking via this keyboard. What you heard earlier was not the voice of a human, but this machine's voice. It was acting up, so the volume blasted.

Itsuki: So that's what it was.

Akari: You perve! What were you doing sneaking into my room? I thought I was gonna get r***d! You hypocrite! How the hell does a peeping tom become a hypocrite anyway? I even forecast you'd be crushed under a rock, your innards splattered everywhere! Why'd we save such a perv!?

Yami: Sorry. Akari can be pretty harsh.

Akari: Well, I don't care about this creepy hypocrite. More importantly, Yami. I couldn't decide whether to tell you or not, but I guess I will. They got Mary together with her sister.

Yami: Oh no! She got caught. Mary got caught.

Itsuki: Mary? Who's that?

Akari: She is a friend of Yami she help yami to get me into the lab.

Yami: Let's save her!

Akari: Impossible. They already took her back. There's nothing we can do.

Yami: But----

Akari: Yami. We don't even know where the lab is now. Think about it.

Yami: (Started crying)

Itsuki: (Trying to comfort her) Yami...

Yami: Leave! And don't ever come back!

(Itsuki leaves the place)

Akari: Wait! There is something you can do, Yami.

Yami: Huh?

Akari: You can go to school. Have enough fun for the both of us. This life's not gonna last much longer. You should live it up while you still can.

Yami: Akari! What are you saying?

Akari: Don't worry about me. If it weren't for you, I'd have died a long time ago. I'm so grateful to you, Yami.

^ At School ^

Classmate A: ... is actually made with the meat of drowned people. While people say sea bream soup is...

Itsuki: (Thinking) She came. Yami...

Teacher C: Okay, then. Next up... Yami.

Yami: Huh?

Teacher C: Please continue reading.

Yami: Uh... um...

Yami: Hello, Akari?

Akari: Yami, I got a forecast. Someone else near you will die!

(Yami hang up the phone and run outside with Itsuki to find who's gonna die)

Yami: In fifteen minutes at the curry shop near the station, a lady in red will be hit by a car and die.

Itsuki: Fifteen minutes? That's cutting it pretty close.

Yami: You're coming with me!?

Itsuki: Do you even know where the curry shop is?

(Itsuki and Yami stopped, when theres a lady with a bike and they are almost get hit)

Yami: I'm sorry.

Itsuki: We were in a hurry.

Lady: (ride her bike again) Sure you're not just stupid? This is why I can't stand kids!

Itsuki: Where does she get off saying that?

Yami: (Run again) Let's go, we gotta hurry.

Itsuki: Right! Shoot! Our fifteen minutes are up!

(Itsuki and Yami saw the car damaged)

Itsuki: We didn't make it in time.

Yami: (sobbing) If we could have run faster, we might have saved her.

Itsuki: (Thinking) Yeah. If you knew and then weren't able to save the person, you'd feel almost as if you killed them yourself. That's why Yami can't just leave them.

Stranger A: It's surprising with an accident this big that there were no casualties.

Stranger B: Yeah.

Itsuki: Ummm, what were you just saying?

Stranger A: He got distracted while driving, but luckily there was no one around.

Itsuki: (Thinking) What the heck? No one died?

Itsuki: Akari's forecast was totally off!

Yami: That's odd. What could it mean?

(Yami saw the lady before taking pictures of the car who's damaged)

Yami: Oh, that's the lady with the bike from before...

Itsuki: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yami: Huh?

Itsuki: I get it now! I know why no one died. That lady was the one who was supposed to get hit. Since she almost ran into us before, the timing worked out so the accident missed her. If it weren't for us, these gawkers would be taking pictures of her.

Yami: Don't talk like that. I'm just... really glad no one died.

Itsuki: Yeah, me too.

^ At the laboratory of researchers ^

Mary: Where's Ani? What happened to her? Ani doesn't have anything to do with this! She's a normal human! Let her go home!

Assistant of the King: But you know that once someone sees you do power, they can't be allowed to live, no more than you can. Where are the other escaped witches?

Mary: I don't know! I really don't know! We just scattered!

Assistant of the King: Eject her.

Mary: No! Don't! I won't run away again! I won't, so please stop!

(When someone ejected the experimented girl they are automatically died)

Assistant of the King: (To researcher) Find the other witches, without fail. We need them to fight for the Princess.

^ At the abandoned village ^

Akari: I'm hungry! I'm hungry! I'm hungry!

Yami: I'm hungry too. I'll go up the mountain and be right back.

Akari: No! No more wild herbs!

Yami: Stop being spoiled.

(Itsuki visit them)

Itsuki: Hey, what's all the fuss about?

(Yami and Akari smelled something)

Akari: Yami, is that...

Yami: (To itsuki) What is that amazing smell?

Itsuki: Wow, you could smell it? I brought some food over.

Yami: Oh, wow! What is it!? What are we having!?

Itsuki: Yakisoba bread and stuff.

Yami: (Excited) Yakisoba bread!?

Itsuki: And cake and stuff.

Akari: (Excited) Cake!

Itsuki: (To Akari) Wait, but can you even eat?

Akari: O-Of course I can! If I didn't, I'd die!

Yami: Akari can't chew, but she can swallow. Hey, can I see the cake?

Itsuki: Huh? Uh... sure.

Yami: Akari, look. It's cake!

Akari: Whoaaaaaa, it's been 3 years!

Yami: What beautiful cakes!

Akari: So cute!

Itsuki: (Thinking) These two must not have a square meal since they escaped.

Yami: Let's have some cake together. Hang on.

Itsuki: You're gonna eat the cake first!?

Itsuki: Hey, if you can use the blender, you must have electricity.

Yami: Yes, but there's no gas. We boil water and cook with wood fires.

Itsuki: Okay, fine. Go ahead and eat it.

Yami: Ah! Really? In that case, we'll save this cake for later.

Akari: Looking forward to it, Yami.

Itsuki: (Thinking) What's this feeling? I kinda wish I could stay here forever. Is it because Yami looks like Kurayami? Sheesh. I must have really liked her.

Itsuki: Ah, yami it's already evening I need to go home.

^ Outside the door ^

Yami: Thank you for everything!

Itsuki: Don't mention it. I'll bring something around again.

Yami: Um... I...

Itsuki: Hm? What is it?

Yami: I... I'm gonna go on the summer trip, after all. Not for your sake. I just haven't seen the ocean in a while, and I kinda want to.

Itsuki: I see.

Yami: So I'll try to get adjusted to school too. It'd be weird to only go on the summer trip, right?

Itsuki: What happened to you?

Yami: What? Got a problem?

Itsuki: No, you misunderstood. You're bleeding.

(The bleeding doesn't stop)

Itsuki: Whoa! Are you okay, Yami?

The next day, Yami didn't come to school.
