WINTER
When they lunged at me, I heard a low growl that sent a shiver down my spine at the same time. My gaze flicked past them, straight to the monstrous wolf looming in their shadow. My breath hitched, and before I could even think to react, the beast lunged. Seizing one of the men and slamming him mercilessly against the ground.
“K-King-” The man’s last word died on his tongue as the wolf’s massive jaws closed over his face.
I wrenched my gaze away from the gruesome sight. My stomach twisted at the sickening scream that followed.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught the wolf tearing into the second man, dispatching him with the same brutality. And just when I thought the third had the sense to flee, a hand shot out, seizing me by the arm.
