GETTING CLOSER : THE BOOK

915 Words
Days turned into weeks, and the journey seemed to stretch on forever. They traversed through dense jungles, navigated treacherous canyons, and fought their way through ancient ruins that had been reclaimed by the wilderness. The closer they got to the Sanctuary, the more perilous the journey became. The infected seemed to sense their presence, their relentless pursuit a constant threat. One evening, as they reached the edge of a vast, overgrown clearing, they were ambushed. A horde of the infected, their eyes burning with a malevolent hunger, surged from the shadows, their decaying bodies a grotesque spectacle of death. The fight was brutal, a whirlwind of blades, blood, and bone. Maria, her movements swift and precise, fought with a ferocity that belied her small stature. Alexander, his strength and experience a formidable weapon, held back the tide of the infected, his every blow a testament to his unwavering determination. But the enemy was relentless, their numbers seemingly endless. They were outnumbered, outmatched, and outgunned. Just as their hope began to dwindle, a faint glimmer of light appeared in the distance. A beacon, a symbol of salvation. "It's the Sanctuary," Maria gasped, her voice strained with exhaustion. "We've found it!" With renewed vigor, they fought their way through the remaining horde, their desperate cries echoing through the clearing. They finally reached the edge of the Sanctuary, a magnificent temple carved from ancient stone, its walls adorned with intricate carvings that hinted at a forgotten civilization. As they stepped inside, the air shifted, filled with a palpable energy. The Sanctuary was a labyrinth of interconnected chambers, each imbued with a unique atmosphere. The walls hummed with an unseen energy, the air thick with the scent of ancient incense and the whisper of forgotten prayers. They found themselves in a vast chamber, its ceiling lost in the shadows. At the center, a monolithic structure stood tall, its surface etched with ancient symbols that radiated a faint, pulsating light. This was the source of the power, the altar of the Sanctuary. Maria stood beside him, her gaze fixed on the structure, her mind awhirl with a thousand questions. The Sanctuary was a place of both wonder and mystery, a place where the secrets of the past intertwined with the hopes of the future. The journey had been long and perilous, but they had finally reached their destination. They were now on the precipice of a new reality, a reality where hope had the power to conquer even the darkest of nightmares. Their mission was far from over, for the battle against the undead was far from won. But with the power of the Sanctuary, they had the chance to turn the tide, to reclaim their world from the clutches of darkness. As they delved deeper into the secrets of the Sanctuary, they discovered a vast network of tunnels and chambers, each holding its own mysteries. They deciphered ancient texts to open different doors with instructions on the same page yet all rooms looked the same, "Let's try another page", cried Maria. But then after deciphering a code from a different page , in the same room was a glowing altar right in front of them. Finally, " The Altar Of The Sanctuary !" exclaimed Alexander Alexander, his eyes wide with awe, approached the structure, his hand outstretched as if reaching for a forgotten dream. "It's real," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion. "The power is real." Wait !!! ,cried Maria. It can't be , we have been moving round the tunnel with hope of reaching the altar but it seems like we always get to the same spot ,all those tunnels and texts everything is fake .It's an illusion or a puzzle ,all new rooms we unlock are the same . "I think I have an idea," said Alexander . What if we are missing the key to passing through the illusions ? Let's combine every code and see what comes out of it . They tried to combine the codes but they found out it was leading to a pictures, the codes they deciphered where all pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. They finished it up and then a door appeared and there was a inscription " NIHTIW SEIL REWOP EHT " and beneath it a writing , " THE END IS THE BEGINNING AND THE BEGINNING IS THE END " I think they are magic words ,said Maria . No they are not , below it says something about the beginning being the end and vice versa . I think we are meant to read it backwards 🤷‍♂️, said Alexander. Right let's try that , said Maria . They read it backwards and for each complete word a lock got turned and finally the code was " THE POWER LIES WITHIN " A little shelf protruded from between the locks and they saw a book . More like a spell book, and a guide to access the altar of the sanctuary . They went through the book, and truly many veils were uncovered. They learned that the plague was not just a disease, but a curse, a curse that had been unleashed upon the world by a powerful sorcerer who sought to dominate humanity. The undead were not mere mindless creatures, but the corrupted remnants of those who had been infected by the curse. They had become pawns in a sinister game, driven by the sorcerer's will. The curse had been activated .But by who ?...🤔🤔🤔
