Then without thinking she said the first thing that came into her head.
“You know who I am?”
General Vladilas smiled before he replied,
“Of course!”
There was silence.
Then he said,
“Will you sit down? I am sure that after your hard climb, which I have been told you managed extremely efficiently, you would like something to drink.”
He indicated as he spoke, two chairs with a low round table in front of them.
Without waiting for her answer he snapped his fingers and immediately, as if he was waiting to do so, a man came in carrying a bottle of wine with two glasses on a tray.
He set it down in front of them and as he left the room Ileana could not help thinking he was behaving exactly as a trained servant in the Palace
