I hate school!
I stood up and went to the bathroom where I took a hot shower in the hopes that at least the warmth of the water would provide some solace.
I cleaned my teeth after finishing, then changed into a pair of ripped dark pants and a gray hoodie. Before heading downstairs, I let my hair fall out of the hoodie and made sure the hood was up and covering my face.
I put on my shoes, grabbed a granola bar, and headed outside to walk to school because I didn't yet have a car and it wasn't that far.
I woke up after fifteen minutes, I arrived at the school and scowled. It was the sort of school you might see on television. I felt a brief moment of annoyance before walking inside and obtaining my timetable from the office.
Why even do I have to attend this school? There is no use in me attending school for the remaining three weeks as I have already finished my exams.
I arrived early for math class and glanced down so no one would be able to see who I am. Despite the fact that the majority of the students at the school were werewolves, it's likely that they are unaware that I am one.
I sunk down into my chair even further when I heard several people enter.
I have zero social skills.
People are just too difficult to manage because of their diverse personalities, which occasionally poked through their friendly facades.
"Who is that person? Look at them. Why is she sporting a hood? Is it even a girl? Such an oddball..." I tightened my jaw at that point in an effort to calm myself down.
Everyone was talking about me in whispers, so I had to collect myself before my wolf showed. Being a female wolf wasn't that uncommon, but it also wasn't extremely frequent, so when one was discovered, it was typically displayed as an antique.
Morgan, simply ignore them. They're stupid, nonetheless. Lina, my wolf, said to me.
Thank you, Lina. I answered her.
I recalled that I had thought I may run into my partner here. If I could go back in time, I would laugh in my own face.
The lesson continued, and the subsequent classes were also similar. The end of the academic year came around quickly. Everything had been fairly uninteresting and pointless, as was to be expected.
Seven days later
After just one week at this school, I was ready to quit. There are barely two weeks left, and although I've been tempted to just drop out, I made a commitment to my parents that I would try to finish high school.
And I regrettably dislike keeping my word.
Even though I haven't been able to establish any friends, everyone still longs to see my face. even the godforsaken educators.
In order to try to draw a reaction out of me, they regularly trip me up and make fun of me in class and the corridors, but they never get one.
Only when I'm responding to a teacher's inquiry do they even hear my voice.
You'd think they'd give up by now, but no. They still treat me like the disrespectful, little kids they are.
I truly don't care. I just want to escape this pit of misery.
also shortly.
One more week later
They've been going on for another week now without ceasing.
Are they really devoid of a personal life? They seem to only have one desire, which is this bizarre impulse to annoy the living daylights out of me.
Relax, Lexie. We'll soon leave her and go to work as palace guards. We'll be there in a week, only one more! When Lina said it, I nodded in agreement and found that just thinking about the palace helped me to relax.
Thank you, Lina. You always come to my rescue. I adore you! I responded to her message.
I love you too, so please stop killing others.
I chuckled and smiled to myself. I was always content with my wolf.
Final day of classes: departing for the royal palace.
Yes, I succeeded. I did it, oh my goodness! Even better, I didn't kill anyone.
As the final school bell sounded and I practically skipped back home, I could not help but smile.
The royal palace is where I'm headed! I imagined where I would soon be living, and a grin as wide as my ears spread across my face.
By the time I was saying my goodbyes and departing today, I had already packed the previous evening.
My parents were waiting for me when I got home, so I opened the door and gave my mother a long, strong hug. Also present was my father, who I jumped on as well before giving him a deep hug.
They are people I'll miss.
However, visiting the royal palace will be an incredible event that I have been looking forward to since I was a young girl. And I would be the Alpha King's guard, which most werewolves would consider an honour.
Since I had submitted my own application to join two years prior, I am now officially 18 and prepared to join. Since the palace was in Russia and I couldn't regularly fly between the two nations, I also finished my training in England. Fortunately, England had a school for aspiring guards. I got admitted a year ago, but I had to complete my academic requirements for my parents first.
I gave my folks one more hug before getting into a taxi.
They were waving me off and had tears streaming down their faces as I last saw them.
They are my favourites, and I will miss them.
Here I am, Russia.
When I got to the palace, all I did was stand there and look.
It was incredibly lovely.
It wrapped around the front garden and was three floors high. The enticing walls were surrounded by several windows and featured silver walls with columns. I felt dizzy as I stood in front of the majestic palace in the garden surrounding the fountain, which was surrounded by golden statues. The region was covered in flowers, and I smiled to myself. I was drawn in by the garden alone.
This palace looked spectacular and still managed to look cosy; I could fall in love with it.
I took my time strolling past the garden, taking in all of its magnificent intricacies, before entering the palace.
Someone approached me before I had a chance to marvel at the interior.
"My name is Stephen. A new warrior will be joining us today; are you one of them?" A towering man questioned me. He was straining to see my face as he peered past my hood towards me. Too bad the hood hides my face from view. Sucker.
"Hey. Um ... Yeah. Morgan here." I spoke up slowly.
I was aware that few women joined the military to become fighters, so when they do, it's usually to show off. If they are good, that is. that I am. But they would never consider displaying me like some inanimate thing.
Just have a peek at me. HA! I cannot!
His shocked reaction caught my attention, and I chuckled.
"Argh, Argh, Argh. Are you a girl? Wow, there have only been a few before. I'll bring you to your room if you follow me." He stated as he began to ascend the stairs.
I glanced down as we ascended the steps and saw the hallway where I had just been standing. It was brilliant. I've actually ran out of words to describe this palace. It's all very lovely.
I sighed when I noticed that the walls were filled with pictures of former werewolf kings and queens. There is so much aristocracy around me. It seems enchanted. I practically felt their past lives ascend through my fingers and into my soul.
I awoke from my reverie and looked up to discover that we had halted outside of a door at the end of a lengthy corridor.
"This is your room, then. Go ahead and unpack. The new warriors' dinner is at 7 o'clock in the dining room downstairs. Dress comfortably. It is directly down the hallway on the right from where you originally entered. Unfortunately, the King has obligations tonight and cannot attend the meeting with the new recruits. Hopefully, he will attend training tomorrow. In the front garden of the field, practice begins at six in the morning. Avoid being late." He stated before leaving.
Wow.
I entered my room, which was pretty spacious and had a queen-sized bed against the wall in the centre, along with a sizable closet. I flopped onto the bed after dropping my things to the floor.
Ahhhhh. So soft. I climbed into bed and burrowed my face into it with an ear-splitting grin. The bed felt like feathers.
I was quite worn out after the roughly 10-hour travel from America to Russia.
I forced myself out of bed and started unpacking my luggage. My clothing went into the wardrobe, and I arranged my books on the shelves.
When I checked at the time, it was close to six o'clock, so I started getting ready.
To get clean and presentable for the meal with the new guards, I changed out of the leggings and sweatshirt I had been wearing on the drive here.
I put on some high waist black leggings and a burgundy loose crop top sweatshirt after taking a long, soothing shower, making sure that my brown hair was out and curling down my front. My hair was extremely long and had loose, wavy curls that reached my belly button.
I looked in the mirror to make sure my face was hidden by the hoodie and looked at the digital alarm clock to confirm that it was almost time for 7 o'clock.
I slowly made my way down the stairs to the dining room after leaving my room, dragging my hood even lower as I did so.
I entered and noticed a large group of individuals gathered around a long table conversing. I searched the area for girls but didn't find any. That's fantastic. All around me are boys. Simply perfect.
I sighed in my head and sank into the empty chair at the back of the table as I overheard whispering.
There's a female there, look!
"Why does she have a hood on?"
"Is she weird?"
What is she even doing in this place?
"Oh, a girl. She won't make it here with us lads."
Oh, yeah, a*s. In just a few seconds, I could knock you out with a good beating, according to my wager. I pondered.
This is going to be a lengthy meal, I have a feeling.
