Hannah felt that moist gathering in her eyes again. The light bulb in the room was behind her and it cast a shadow to her face. Caroline didn’t notice the tears. She didn’t want her to. She took a deep breath. There was a way out, she told herself. This was surely a way out to paying the huge house rent. She’d work on her schedule. She’d go to school, do Caroline’s chores, and also work in the evenings.
