Nyra’s question echoed in my head, yet I couldn’t bring myself to reply.

 I felt defeated, broken, and trapped between walls.

Every step I took weakened me further inside.

 My problem was at its very climax, and I knew that if I couldn’t find a solution, then my brothers were ruined.

That witch had been my only hope. I had held on to her… tortured her… in hopes that one day, she would tell me how to help my brothers— or she would take away their pain.

But none of that happened, and now she was gone. All thanks to Nyra.

A part of me blamed her for what happened, while another part blamed myself.

Right from the very first time I caught her snooping around the cave cell, I should have turned her away.

I should have been firm enough to make her understand that it was a no-go
