Chapter 24 Help Cutler remained outside the cave and waited. She watched how the sun traveled across the sky. She watched a hawk capture and take off with a squirrel. And as the hours crept by, she suffered a thirst that was nearly debilitating. The jewel kept calling out to her, but it never spoke to her again as David. The creature ranted and screamed and struggled to break free of its bindings. Outside she couldn"t hear all the words being directed at her, but she could feel the thing"s anger like waves of heat rolling out of the narrow entrance. The sun finally went down.
