Habit
Bar glanced up from her desk when she heard the knock. Michelle entered the office without waiting for permission and laid a large brown clasp envelope on the glass top. In her other hand she carried a familiar blue backpack.
"Where do you want this?"
"Right here is fine." Bar motioned toward the floor at her feet. The woman dropped the bag as directed. "Was that everything?"
"The backpack was all she had at the motel. The police just delivered her clothes the hospital cut off of her after they took her to the emergency room." Michelle smiled. "They had to give her a sedative just to be able to x-ray that leg."
"Was Dr. Logan in charge?"
"Yes, and he"s making sure she remains under sedation. She"ll remain under police guard until she"s well enough to transfer to a c
