Chapter Six A Secondary Fuse Chloe and Berk burst to the surface as one. Kaelyn urged Chloe onto the soft sand and stood in the stirrups as they bolted toward the rock cliff. Berk and Chord came up beside them. Chord called to her, “Kaelyn, study the rocks. Locate all the lines. During the race, this run will be packed with riders. If you don’t make it to the rocks first go for a free line which is usually near the edges, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Choose one of the sidelines and take it now.” Chord yanked Berk’s reins and slid to a stop on the right side of the rocks. Kaelyn did as he requested and slid to a stop on the left side.
