A Royal Sacrifice
Kaelyn slipped back into the room and glanced at Rein in relief. He was still asleep. She undressed to her undergarments and slipped into bed beside him. She rolled over and gazed at his chiseled features. His long lashes fluttered against his cheeks, and his eyes opened.
Their eyes met. Kaelyn asked, “How do you feel?”
He rolled with a grunt onto his side to face her. “Sore and exhausted, but I’ll be ready for tonight, don’t worry.”
“There’s no need.” She smiled at him and tossed a large pouch of coins onto the bed between them.
