I told myself I couldn’t just cave in and accept my fate. Crawling towards the rear of the train, I got back under the tunnel. There, hidden from view, I reached the gap between two of the commuter carriages, descended, and stood on the coupler. I stayed there as it moved inexorably out of the tunnel to the station.
My plan was to jump onto the platform when the time was right, mingle with the other commuters, and find Maya and her team as soon as possible. I could only hope I’d be able to do it without being seen, and before word of my fight with the crusader reached the guards on the platform. A slim chance but it was all I had.
