Chapter 2: Rogue attack.

"Claire, listen to me," I whispered through clenched teeth, not taking my gaze away from the three rogues. "You know where the bonfire party is, right? Hurry there and get some help." "W… What about you?" She gripped my hand tightly, her voice trembling with fear. "Don't worry about me. I will try to stay hidden, away from their sight." "N…no. What if they see you? Let's go together. They haven't seen us yet, so we should still be able to escape together." She spoke while tugging at my hand. I placed my other hand on hers and shook my head. "No, Claire, if we both leave now, they will notice our presence. Just hurry and get help. I will hide so that they won't see me." She shook her head in refusal. She didn’t want to leave me alone with them, but after several persuasions, she nodded before quietly slipping away. As soon as she left, I immediately crouched down and waited for some time before moving to make sure she had successfully slipped away before making my move. In my bent position, I quickly survey my surroundings for a place to hide. I soon noticed a large tree with a lot of branches not too far to my left that I could climb and hide in without being spotted. Good… I muttered to myself before returning my gaze to the rogues and saw that they were drawing closer to where I was squatting. They were now approximately three hundred feet away. 'They will soon notice our presence if we don't move now.' In my hunched position, with my gaze still centered on them, I quietly and slowly moved toward the tree, trying my best not to attract their attention. Crunch The sound of a branch snapping in two echoed around me. I looked at my feet and let out a sigh. 'It seems we won't be able to avoid confrontation,' Davina grunted in my head. 'Yep, it seems so,' I confirmed and stood up. ‘I wish we wouldn't have to, though. I’m not in the mood for blood, so just try to buy time till help comes.’ ‘Yeah, right.’ I rolled my eyes at her. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" One of them had shifted back to his human form and stood stark naked some feet away from me, while the remaining two remained in their wolf form. "Goddess, can you at least cover up and stop being a pervert?" I averted my gaze in disgust as soon as I saw the state he was in. A flicker of surprise, then smugness, settled on the rogue's face. "Hehe, look what we've got here; the fellow is a pack wolf who has yet to have her first shift but is feisty and fearless. It's going to be a shame to just tear her apart without having our way with her first. Don't you think so, guys?" He snickered and stared at me with raw hunger visible in his eyes while his companions let out perverted yelps with drool flowing down from the sides of their mouths. It was disgusting to look at, and I got irritated by the minute. 'Elly, no need to wait for help; let's just get rid of them ourselves.' Davina's irritation flowed through my mind. 'Who was it that said we should stay low? You can't go back on your words now. Besides, someone from the pack will soon be here. We can't risk being exposed.' 'As if. But seriously, they are so annoying. Especially this nincompoop.’ 'I know, right? But let's just wait till help comes.' He walked up to me and looked me up and down, taking in my appearance. He was not even trying to hide the lust. "Aw, what's wrong, darling? Has the cat got your tongue? Too scared to talk now? Don't worry, once we are done with you, we will bundle you up nicely, trace your scent to your family, and deliver you to them as a thank-you gift. Perhaps, if we're lucky, we might also have our way with your family and do to them as we did to you. Brilliant plan, right?" The three of them hollered excitedly at his words. Finding pleasure in it. The moment I heard his words and plans, especially concerning my family, I saw red. "What did you say?" "Oh, that's it, right there. The feistiness in her. Too bad it won’t be of much help to you and your f…" Before he could finish his sentence, I closed the small distance between us and held him tightly by the throat. "W…what the hell? How did you… How could you…" He struggled to pry my hand away from his throat to no avail. He was powerless against me, and he soon realized it. "I asked, 'What did you just say?'" I growled. Anger engulfed me as I tightened my hold on his neck and lifted him off his feet effortlessly. "You…you. How could you… let go… Release me this instant!" He clawed at my hand and punched it several times to weaken my hold on him. It was all futile. Realizing how powerful I was against him, fear crept in, and he stammered and called out to the other two. "W…what are you guys s…standing there for? Get her." At his command, the remaining two snapped out of their shock and circled me before charging at me. Still in their wolf form, one leaped at me, claws out, aiming for my back, while the other aimed for my neck. I easily sent the one behind me flying with a powerful kick, and he landed hard against a tree far away. I heard his bones snap as he collided with the tree and lay lifeless on the ground. Likewise, I caught the one that aimed for my throat effortlessly and snapped his neck in two, killing him instantly. Then I released him, and his lifeless form dropped heavily to the ground. "Who? No, what are you?" The one I still held by the neck choked. My gaze on him was as clear as it could be, without a trace of fear or remorse for what had just taken place. "It doesn't matter who or what I am. What matters now is that you forced me to do this. I didn't plan this. I never wanted to take action or do anything, for that matter. But why? Why did you have to involve my family? You shouldn't have involved my family. That's my bottom line, and you crossed it. Now, see what you made me do." I spoke so calmly that whatever the rogue saw in my gaze frightened him so much that he wet himself and shivered in fear. "Pl…please, spare me. I…I was wrong. I… I know that now." I smiled at him and tightened my hold on him. "P…please, I swear I will disappear from your sight, and you will never see me again. I will also not tell a soul about what happened today," he choked out. His face had turned dark red from lack of blood and oxygen. My smile broadened without reaching my eyes, and I lifted my other hand to brush his hair that had fallen over his eyes away. "Too late." With that, I snapped his neck and dropped his lifeless body. I brought out the handkerchief I always brought with me and wiped my hands vigorously before tossing it on his lifeless body. 'Tsk, who was it that said no to taking action just now?' Davina mocked me, happy at the turn of events. I ignored her and used my power to move the bodies a distance away from where I was before setting them on fire. Once everything was done with no sign of what had taken place, I climbed the tree I had initially wanted to hide in and waited for the rescue team that Claire had gone to call.
