Threads Unraveling
Kael’s POV
The woods had always been my sanctuary. Out here, the air didn’t carry the weight of watchful eyes, the walls of the Academy didn’t close in, and no one demanded answers I wasn’t ready to give.
Tonight, though, the forest wasn’t mine alone.. Elara slowly and quietly walked beside me, her silence was both comforting and yet oddly suffocating.
The moonlight fell across her features in uneven glimmers as the clouds shifted. She looked lost.. more lost than I’d ever seen her and that kind off unsettled me in a way nothing else had in a long time.
Her fingers brushed against the necklace at her throat.
“Elara.. are you sure you’re okay? I mean we could go back if you want?” I finally breathed out, breaking the silence.
