VERONICA POV “TOMORROW BY SEVEN” Once all the dishes were done, Seraphine wasted no time bringing out the rice and stew, a dish she made which filled all the corners of the room with a tantalizing aroma, a spiced rice and creamy stew. We sat on the floor and I joined the munching, a mix of soft hums of the evening music, tiny gabs and my favorite piece of cutlery jingles floated around the room. “Vero, I haven’t laughed like this in weeks.” Seraphine pieced together between the many bites she was taking in. With a smile on my face, I replied to save the napkin and my hands, “That’s what sisters are for.” And like many other sisters, we laughed letting go of burdens of life and the academy. The best part was the fog which once wrapped around her tightly was finally beginning to lift.
