Just before Everly dosed off, she was startled by a noise outside Maddox’s door. It was dark upstairs with the power out and the temperature had already started to drop. Carefully, she untangled herself from Maddox and covered him with several extra blankets. Her eyes adjusted slowly to the dark and she used a tiny bit of magic to light the way back to her bedroom. She could hear sounds of a party downstairs and realized it was a perfect time to slip outside and drop her cloaking. With the storm still swirling, it would be the safest and protect her from the pack finding out.
