Chapter 60: Unspoken Tensions

1241 Words

The evening air carries a soft chill as Jack and I return to our cabin after our long walk and visit to the art gallery. There’s a strange energy lingering between us, one I can’t quite place. While Jack was lighthearted for most of the day, his mood shifted the moment we saw Jacob Sylvester at the gallery. He didn’t say much about it, but I could sense the tension in the way his hand tightened around mine. As we settle into the cabin, I decide to let the moment breathe. Jack flops onto the couch, scrolling through his phone, while I stand by the window, gazing out at the dark sea. The rhythmic sound of the waves against the ship calms me, but only momentarily. My thoughts drift back to Jacob—his piercing gaze, the way his eyes followed us in the gallery, and the unease it stirred in me.
